Wanted Good Documentation on HFSC
Hello All, I am trying to prioratize VOIP traffic from data. The follwing link says that HFSC is better than HTB for shaping VOIP traffic. http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-QoS+Linux+with+HFSC I am in search of good documentation to start with HFSC, I am unable to understand the parameters used. I "googled" a lot to find on how to use HFSC, but no luck. Can anyone of you get me a link To

Re: Equal bandwidth for any client
Hi, If you are running brctl tool on the linux box then there is a command that will automatically determine the number of MAC addresses in the network #brctl showmacs <bridge name> <port number of ur lan interfce> grep -v -w port | wc -l Ex: #brctl showmacs abcd 1 grep -v -w port | wc -l Note that, for this to work your box should be confogurred as a bridge in promiscuous

Help with traffic control (HTB ESFQ RED)
Hello, there''s a problem I''ve had for several months now, and I''ve never been able to find an answer to it. I''ll try to explain as quick as possible: I have a server that controlls my home network, it provides internet to them also (NAT) and I would like to provide QoS by shaping traffic. I have a p2p server here (running mldonkey), since only that

Detecting p2p traffic
After varying degrees of success with p2p detection modules, I would like to write the following rules using iptables to reliably identify p2p traffic: 1. If a host on the network has 5 or more simutaneous tcp connections to ports above 1024, mark all connections to ports 1024 and above as 60. 2. If a host has received (or sent) UDP packets from 5 different hosts'' ports above 1024 in a

Unshapeable traffic
Hello, Could somebody explain following issue ? I set up htb class on outgoing external interface to shape p2p upload traffic. I limited it to 4Mbit/s. I also set up iptables counters chains in FORWARD chain to calculate traffic generated by p2p and others. While tc stats show that p2p shaping class keep defined 4Mbit traffic, iptables counters show me that p2p traffic exceed traffic to 150%

redirect-gateway and p2p-Traffic
Hello, http://www.tinc-vpn.org/examples/redirect-gateway/ explains how to set up a default route using tinc. However, in my understanding tinc's p2p traffic is routed via tinc there: Assume a network: Client A, Client B and a Server S. A and B have "ConnectTo S" in their config, S is used as a gateway providing 0.0.0.0/0 . All packets send from A to B will be delivered to

In regards to my earlier post, I believe that my problem is that the filter is not matching ssh traffic properly. Here are the rules that I posted earlier, with the filter being the last one: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 3 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 102400kbps ceil 102400kbps tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:2 htb rate 102400kbps ceil

Network shaper for gateway with massive p2p traffic
Hi, I have made this script, that I use for controlling the bandwidth on a gateway for about 100 computers. It is working quite effectively to limit the use of p2p programs (and other programs), so that you can surf undisturbed. Also, it improves internet access in general, so that one large download doesn''t take up all your bandwidth. I was wondering if someone would like to test it,
