Re: LARTC Digest, Vol 2, Issue 40
Hi Marcin, There is no problem to make limitation on a linux bridge. The rule must be the same as for a router: there must be applied on eth0 and eth1. All my best, Liviu On Wed, 2005-04-13 at 10:48 +0200, lartc-request@mailman.ds9a.nl wrote: > Send LARTC mailing list submissions to > lartc@mailman.ds9a.nl > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit >

iptables mark + openvpn will the mark survive ?
Greetings, I want to setup bandwidth restrictions for a few clients that use openvpn to connect to my server. I''m using iptables to mark the packets in the mangle table (PRE/POSTROUTING) on eth0 before they get sent via the tunnel. Will the mark survive even if the packets then get routed via an openvpn tunnel (tunX) out the box or does openvpn change it removing the mark ? damnit,

HTB and Openvpn
Hi! I have just started with traffic shaping, and after hours of reading websites, man pages asf. I am still stumped at one problem I have. The interface eth0 is attached to the outside world, and I have an openvpn tunnel to another part of the organization using eth0 and port 5001. The idea was that all traffic going through the tunnel would have top priority and the rest share

QoS + OpenVPN
Hi, I''ve got 3 questions: 1) is it possible to do QoS and OpenVPN? I thought about doing QoS based on IP, as there''s a couple of servers here that need to be on a higher priority. 2) can anyone point me to a decent QoS how-to? 3) damn, I can''t remember what this one was. :o) Cheers, Fernando

RE: LARTC digest, Vol 1 #1564 - 6 msgs
Martin, If I understand whay you are suggesting, there is a problem in your design: It will only work if you use Hide NAT. The problem is that the ip_src == IP0 rule is wrong: The ip_src is not changed by the router and it is not equal to the IP of any of the machine interfaces. Can you think of a solution that will work in the following reasonabl scenario: Lets say I have two T1 internet

FW: QoS extension to Net-SNMP
Hi. I did send this to `jaazz@post.cz'', but I suspect the list is a more appropriate/useful place for it. It''s a question about Michal Charvat''s QoS extension to Net-SNMP. When I look at the MIB entries for the QoS handles, I get something like this - enterprises.qos.qosObjectTable.qosObject.qosHandle.0.0 = Gauge32: 0

LARTC Wiki
Hi all, Since the mail list receives a lot of repeated subjects (for example: "i have two adsl lines..."), maybe these specific issues should be treated on the LARTC Guide, or maybe if we had an wiki? Is there a LARTC Wiki? If not, what do you think about creating one? Thanks -- Marco _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl

traffic shaping a box with vpn tunnels.
Greetings, I''ve got a server with a bunch of vpn (openvpn) tunnels terminating on it. I''m trying to limit the total bandwidth the tunnels can use to 3mbit. So I applied a rule like this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 90 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100mbit burst 15k # Default rule for

Future of QoS in Linux
Hi I''m on my last year and I''m writing my final project about QoS support in Linux 2.4 kernels and, in general, about QoS in Linux OS. My professor asked me about future of QoS in Linux. And I asking you :) What are the difference between QoS subsystem in 2.4 and 2.6 kernels? What are the future plans for evolution of QoS support in Linux. -- Pozdrawiam Marcin
