Security exploit downloaded with FLAC?
As is my routine every couple of weeks, I ran Pest Patrol anti-spyware
software, and was disturbed to find it came back saying that the file
FLAC/COPYING.FDL was a security exploit known as "Virus Tutorial" or
VTool/jul2. This has left me wondering if FLAC is to be trusted. Here's
what PestPatrol's web site has to say about it:
Exploit: A way of breaking into a system. An

Tags Layout
Hi,
When looking into a Flac file with an hexadecimal editor, I observe that the different tags (date, tittle, etc...) are, one time all displayed in capital letters (DATE=), on an other time all displayed in minus letters (date=), or...a mix of both : some tags in capital letters, others in minus letters.
For tagging (and encode/decode) I use the Flac Frontend listed on your site. When testing

why your computer is running slow
Hello,
Have you noticed your computer running slower than ever?
The reason for that may have to do with online advertisers adding SpyWare or AdWare to your computer without your knowledge. "Spyware" is a common term for files that are installed on your system without your knowledge that allow companies to monitor your Internet activity. "AdWare" is software that will show

problem running Sweave as a web service with anti-virus software
Hello R mailing list
We are trying to use R and Sweave, running as a web service on a server
to prepare statistical reports but are having problems with our
anti-virus software apparently prohibiting execution due to what we
think is Sweave trying to run an executable in one of the system's
temporary folders.
As background, we use the following Rscript command to invoke Sweave

Administrator-privileged logon scripts under limited mode on XP?
At our organization, we're currently gradually migrating the
workstations from Windows 98 to Windows XP, while retaining the use of
our samba server as a PDC. For those who may remember my previous post,
our upgrade to Samba 3.0.11 from an ancient version (2.2.3) I inherited
went extremely well, and I was thoroughly impressed how little I had to
change to get everything running.
Anyways,

R is a virus, spyware or malware (gasp!)
After a search session in Google, I found this page:
http://www.prevx.com/filenames/X1993788672854780728-0/RGUI.EXE.html
which classifies Rgui.exe (clearly stated as "R for Windows GUI
front-end") in a database of virus, spyware and malware!

/var partition overflow (due to spyware?) in FreeBSD default install
All:
I'm posting this to FreeBSD-security (rather than FreeBSD-net) because
the problems I'm seeing appear to have been caused by spyware, and
because they constitute a possible avenue for denial of service on
FreeBSD machines with default installs of the operating system.
Several of the FreeBSD machines on our network began to act strangely
during the past week. Some have started to

[samba-users] Network Pblm with "misty" (XP Home SP3 )
In short this is the problem. The XP Home machine called
"misty" cannot see any other machines. It cannot see the Linux machines
and it cannot see the XP Home machines or the XP Pro machine. In spite
of this blindness it can map to all the XP machines and define so-called
network places. But "misty" cannot map through the SAMBA protocal used
by the Linux machines to make

Instead of openvpn, I use openssh. Use compression
