how can I monitor a (dumb) switch ?
Hello there, Can anyone help me with a problem i have.... I have an ethernet LAN, made over dumb fast-ethernet switches (10/100mbit) without management, so there is no IP for the switches. What I want, if possible, is to find out if a switch is down or not. It''s like with routers... if you want to find out if a router is OK, either you send ICMP directly to the router, or to a host

IMQ: why do I need IMQ ?
Hello there, Can someone please explain why do one neeed IMQ ? I can already shape incoming traffic on my nat router by creating qdiscs on LAN-side interface. I have done some tests, whith simple bandwidth limmiting, and it works. I''ve read just about all the stuff on www.linuximq.net ... but couldn''t make myself an ideea on why would someone need IMQ for ingress policing ...

pppoe gateway under linux
Hello to everyone, Can someone help me with hints on how to configure a pppoe gateway on a linux box with 200+ clients behind it ? I''ve read that user-space daemons give A LOT of CPU overhead. I''m opened to ANY solution ! -- Radu Cugut mobile: +40 742 045686 web: http://rcugut.has.it

How to calculate HTB quantum
Hello all, I have a question about the quantum parameter of a HTB class: Is there a formula to calculate the quantum parameter of a class, having the rate and ceil as parameters? Sometimes, if I omit putting the quantum parameter for a class, I get a message like "HTB: quantum of class ..... is big/small. Consider r2q change" and shaping doesn''t work very smooth sometimes.

filtering in layer 2 [but is not a bridge]
I have a linux AP with prism2 (hostap) wireless nic. I whant to filter traffic that pass betwen clients of the AP, this is layer 2 traffic (802.11) and netfilter does not sees it, at first i think in physdev target, but is for layer2 bridged interfaces, and this is not the case. There is a way to filter layer2 traffic independet if it is from a bridged iface or not? -- Luciano

Two sets of Heartbeat HTTPD clusters on same subnet
Hi all, I am new to Hearbeat so please be kind :) I also posted this on Linux-HA lists with no responses so I posted it here. I have successfully configure two machines to use heartbeat to cluster httpd. The two nodes are called etk-1 and etk-2. I am trying to configure another two machines to act as a separate cluster (on the same IP subnet). These two nodes are called radu-1 and radu-2.

AVX Optimizations in Opus
Hello, I had talked earlier with 'Timothy B. Terriberry' <tterribe at xiph.org>, about adding support for AVX instructions in Opus, but since he appears to be busy I would like to resend this on the mailing list. I've created a pull request https://github.com/xiph/opus/pull/5 to add the testing infrastructure for the changes before adding the actual code. A draft for the rest

AVX Optimizations
Hello, I've created a pull request[1] to enable configuration to search for AVX support and set OPUS_X86_MAY_HAVE_AVX accordingly. Please review. vegan metaMDS
Hi, I'm trying to use metaMDS with a dissimilarity matrix of angles, not Bray-Curtis, and I wanted to know if there is an in-built function to produce a plot of stress values against dimensions, that could be used to determine the 'true' dimension of the solution. The number of objects is only a lowly 8 so any solution higher than 2-dimensional is not likely to be interpretable,

Antw: AVX Optimizations in Opus
Hi! AFAIK, there are different version of AVX; maybe clarify which versions you use, and how you detect the availability of the instructions needed. Also you could point out which CPUs are expected to be supported. Also consider that besides Intel there still exists AMD ;-) Regards, Ulrich >>> "Velea, Radu" <radu.velea at intel.com> schrieb am 20.01.2016 um 19:02 in

AVX Optimizations
Hello, I've integrated the tests and AVX pitch code into my fork: https://github.com/rvelea/opus/commits/master I ran test_opus_decode and it seems to be running OK. I'll do some more measurements with VTUNE and the new pitch test in the following days and get back to you with a pull request and the data. In the meantime if you have time to give it a quick look and maybe point out any

Absoult minimalistic scenario: #Use a FIXEDFONT to read this #inet-ethx-|FIREWALL|-lan-ethx <-> |client_host_1| # #FIREWALL class(rate,ceil) at lan-ethx

[OT] How do I convert maildir to bsmtp format?
Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a spam filtering operation as a front end for other servers. I've created a virtual server for spam storage where the user will be able to log in using squirrelmail/dovecot to review and release their spam. The email is stored in maildir format. Piecing it together I can use squirrelmail to pipe the email into something so that if a use finds a
