scriptaculous autocompletion LIMIT and ajax vs. local
Hi,
I am using scriptaculous ajax autocompletion (not local autocompletion).
I have 2 questions:
1 - The database query being sent to the server always has LIMIT 10. I
don''t want to have a limit, but I just can''t for the life of me find
where this limit is set in the code. I did see "choices: 10" in
controls.js but that''s for autocompleter.Local, which I

Fwd: Re: disable ''tab'' key wish for incremental autocomplete of textareas
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the commentary, you bring a good point to
light: I think the asynchronous nature of AJAX needs
to be looked at more carefully in our UI assumptions.
The key difference between AJAX auto-complete and any
other browser/OS autocomplete is that we can''t
guarantee having the results ready by the time the
user wants to hit TAB. In the old days we used to
have everything

Ajax.Autocompleter is not a constructor
Hi Rails,
I am having trouble setting up an autocomplete text field. Using rails 1.0.0
and just trying to copy the simple scriptaculous demo
(http://demo.script.aculo.us/ajax/autocompleter) fails. My view and controller
are set up the same way.
In firefox 1.0.4 (and safari, don''t remember the version) I get the
Ajax.Autocompleter error in the javascript console when loading the

disable ''tab'' key wish for incremental autocomplete of textareas
I''m absolutely in love with the incremental
autocomplete feature in the new scriptaculous.
My one wish would be for some way of disabling the TAB
key to prevent users from being able to tab out of an
autocompleting textarea. (If they''re using TAB to
select the autocomplete choice they end up tabbing
straight out of the input field if autocomplete
doesn''t find any

Ajax.Autompleter not working on IE
I have IE 6.0.2 on an old Win 98 machine (that sounds like a vacuum
cleaner when running), but I''m developing with FireFox and on Mac and
Linux where things seem to work fine.
On IE my Ajax.Updater code and my scriptaculous effects are working
fine, but my autocomplete fields are not. I assume I''m doing
something wrong in setting up the field:
I use this on my form:

autocomplete field in ajax response html - css does not get applied.
Hi all,
I have a page in which a div is updated with some html via Ajax. The
returned html contains an autocomplete field. The autocomplete field
works but the drop down results div does not get css applied to it so the
selections don''t get highlighted when I use the up/down arrows and so
I am unable to select from the drop down except for the first item. I
have been looking at this in

A more fancy autocomplete using scriptaculous and ajax
I want to create an autocomplete text field that when you type in
(some
of) a users name, it pops up the portrait image associated to that
user
on the left hand side, which can then be dragged away in to a
Sortable.Droppable element adding that member to your team...
I can get the results to display, but not where I want them. They are
always in a list below the textbox.
1) possible?

Ajax.Autocompleter with an empty field
Hey guys,
I have a field that will have very few autocomplete options. I have
an ajax.autocompleter on it that works great, but I wanted to make it
start autocompleting as soon as the field is blur()ed, so that even
if the field is empty, the list will still appear. Like a combo box
in windows. How can I do this? Setting :min_chars => 0 (or even -1)
didn''t work...

Help with AJAX autocomplete and links
Got the autocomplete search from Rails Recipes nicey working with one of
my tables/models, but struggling to work out how (or if) I can have the
options it brings up be links, so clicking on them takes you straight to
the details page for that item rather than it ending up as a field in a
form box. Is that (or something similar) even possible?

Begin with Autocompleter
Hi list:
I''m a young developer that need a little help with scriptaculous "Autocompleter". I work with PRADO framework (http://www.xisc.com) and PHP as a script language. Now this is a little function in JavaScript for make a AJAX call and show the results without reload the entire page. See below:

Ajax.Autocompleter
I have been working with the Ajax.Autocompleter for about a day so
forgive my ignorance. Is there any value in adding additional
callbacks. I want perform an action when the user selects a choice.
So I was thinking of adding an option {select:
function(selectedElement) {}} similar to the callbacks on Ajax.Request
in the prototype library. Call me out if you think I am crazy my
feelings

autocomplete=off not working on Firefox
I noticed that the latest control.js disables auto complete:
this.element.setAttribute(''autocomplete'',''off'');
So I removed my inline "autocomplete=''off''" from my input fields.
But Firefox still auto completes.
Using the Firefox DOM Inspector I do see that it''s applied
by Ajax.Autocompleter as expected. The Inspector

Autocomplete - setting a second value?
I''m using the autocomplete function, and need a way to grab a second
value from the ajax request... an example would probably speak better:
This is my HTML:
<input name="CustomerName" id="CustomerName" type="text" />
<div id="CustomerList"></div>
<input name="CustomerID" id="CustomerID"

Autocomplete - Destroying the object
Hi,
I''m new to all this so if this is a daft question sorry.
I''m using Ajax Autocomplete to populate a search box with likely matches.
These results need to be filtered by an option from a select box that
is alongside the search box.
As the current Autocomplete function only takes in one id to post to
the search file, i figured i could post more stuff to the
Ajax.Autocompleter

Fwd: [Ruby on Rails] #5181: Autocomplete: How do i format the text in the drop down?
Howdy...
How can the text be formated on the downloadable sample
(\scriptaculous-js-1.6.1\test\functional\ajax_autocompleter2_test.html)?
In your downloadable demo... the format of the drop down (in the txt area)
is a ordered list.. where and how is this formatted? and is it possible
to use a CSS on it? If so.. how would i do that? I like the formatting
you have on your demo
