GRED queuing discipline with grio
Hi, In the GRED queueing discipline of linux traffic control, we can define around 16 Virtual Queues with different RED parameters for each one of these. As far as I think, while applying RED on each of the virtual queues, with the grio option set, quave(the average queue length) of a virtual queue with priority= n is given by the sum of the virtual queues with priority greater than n ... testing techniques for checking the effectiveness of changes made to sch_gred.c
Hi, I have made some changes to the file sch_gred.c to modify the GRED queueing discipline to support the following features: 1) The first virtual queue should get absolute priority while dequeueing (not caring if the others get starved) 2) While in equalise mode and with RIO mode enabled, the packets in the first virtual queue should not be counted for calculating the qave. I want to confirm if

GSOC project
Hi, I think a nice project would be to write an application to figure out those latencies automatically maybe even based on envydis. It could generate latency information based on thread count, register usage, instruction/instruction class, hw unit used. Or even tries to figure out what kind of units exist. Like instructions out of a group which are free to issue/execute after instructions out

Re: xm create: Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working. One more question.
Next question:- eth0            8000.001c2596e32b       no              peth0 pan0            8000.000000000000       no virbr0          8000.000000000000       yes Presence virbr0 in report seems strange. Direct port  Xen 3.4.2  to F11 doesn''t install daemon libvirtd ( bridge virbr0 ) , unless you wrote xen-3.4.2-(x).fc12.src.rpm  yourself. So , from where bridge virbr0 comes

Scheduler Mechnisms!
Hello, Normally, in addition to such qdisc scheduler mechanisms as FIFO, PQ, WRR, WFQ, are there any more? Then, there is a confusion on scheduler in Linux enviroment: Assume there is a qdisc, such as RED as a leaf qdisc in a router, we know, if there is packet which want to enqueue the packet, the Function red_enqueue is called, but when the packet leave the queue(when the Function red_dequeue

EF & AF filters with HTB
Hello all, Please could someone help me with this, I have been trying for days to get this to work. I would like to have BE, AF & EF classes with HTB qdisc. I can''t find any scripts online where this has been done. If I enable this filter: #tc filter add dev eth0 parent 2:0 protocol ip prio 1 \ #tcindex mask 0xf0 shift 4 pass_on then BE & AF classification seems to be fine but

FW: Some queueing disciplines that I wrote.
Dear LATRC and devotees, I have developed some Linux queueing disciplines. I developed them for my masters project. You are free to use or distribute my work. Here is the abstract from my dissertation:- This is a project to implement a Mice and Elephants queuing discipline on Linux. My project has three aims. The first aim was to produce a prototype Mice and Elephants router

simple tbf rate clamping issues
Hello, I was attempting to throttle egress traffic to a specific rate using a tbf. As a starting point I used an example from the LARTC howto, which goes: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root tbf rate 220kbit latency 50ms burst 1540 I then attempt a large fetch from another machine via wget (~40 megs) and the rate was clamped down to about 12Kbytes/s. As this seemed too much, I gradually increased

I become always this error: syntax error near "hfsc" Is it possible, that tcng provides no support for this classful hfcs queuing discipline? TC in Wireless Environment
Hi, Has anyone used TC in a wireless environment, which is dynamic. I understand that the parameters for queuing are static and cannot be changed unless the queuing discipline is deleted and reloaded with different parameters. If anyone can share any experience, that would be helpful. Thanx. Azim. _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl

DSCP, ToS and Egress
I''m successfully using HTB + GRED to shape traffic based on the DSCP field. I would like to strip the DSCP and possibly replace it with normal ToS bits on egress traffic leaving my network. Leaving DSCP set is pointless, and could potentially cause problems with some ISPs that use DSCP internally I suppose. Setting ToS bits would seem ideal as most networks still honor it to varying
