RES: Samba 3.0.2a with ADS w2k3 Active Directory, enctype s
Hi Jim, I did what the doc says but the problem is the same. Does anybody saw this work ? I mean, is the Samba 3.0.2a+Kerberos MIT 1.3.3 able to be accessed by a WXP, W2K or W2K3 machine, using Kerberos tickets generated in a Windows 2003 KDC (W2K3 AD) ? weird kerberos enctype error on otherwise working 3.0.23d install
I have a Samba-3.0.23d installed on a CentOS4.4 server that cannot be connected to from other machines in the same W2K3 ADS. The server was added to the ADS successfully via "kinit admin@REALM" and "net ads testjoin" works just fine. The clocks are NTP-synced and no clock slew errors are to be seen. If WinXP/Win2K3 clients connect using \\ip.address\ it works fine, but if they

net ads join to w2k3 hangs, every encryption type fails
I am able to get a kerberos ticket with kinit. When I try to net ads join, it seems to loop. In running net ads join in -d 10, I found that it tries enctypes 18,17,16,and 2 and then repeats, over and over. It does not seem to work on any of these. I'm trying to get it to join a win2k3 domain. Below is the bottom part of the log from net ads join, as well as some of my krb5.conf. Any

Multipart forms by default?
Forms without explicit enctype are submitted as application/x-www-form- urlencoded. This is the default behaviour in Rails. However, this enctype does not allow transmission of binary data (files). Would it not make sense to specify the enctype multipart/form-data by default instead? i.e. all the form_for helpers would add this enctype to the form tag, unless overriden by the developer. This

Samba ADS -- works with XP Pro, but not 2000 Pro
I am using Samba with Active Directory. I have successfully joined my Samba server to the domain D1 ( net ads join -U username@D2.DOMAIN.COM ). I am able to succesfully connect from Windows XP clients ( with no password ), but not from Windows 2000 ( even when specifying a password ). With w2k, I always get "Failed to verify incoming ticket!". I think it has something to do with

GPX files
I have a Garmin 78s marine GPS receiver and it stores tracks in GPX format. This is an XML encoded set of points giving longitude, latitude, time and sea depth. Garmin support viewing this via their Garmin Express product, but there only seem to be Windows and Mac versions. I've emailed them and await a reply. In the mean time, does anyone know of any Linux products that will emable me to

Samba 3.0.2a with ADS w2k3 Active Directory, enctypes
Hi people, I have a Linux box running Samba 3.0.2a in ADS mode MIT Kerberos 1.3.3. My W2K e WXP users can't access the linux box by netbios name, the only access that works is by IP address, I know that's caused because access thought IP address don't make use of Kerberos. The most strange for me it's that the same environment works fine with a W2K Active Directory, I read in same

At one point in time I wrote a script that converted gpx to kml so I could view them in Google Earth but it's been years since I did that. I don't know if Google Earth for Linux still exists. Thanks for the suggestions. I'd seen gpsbabel, but simply converting the tracks doesn't appear to display them. Another user suggested a downloadable Google Earth, so I'll try that. Failing all else, I've used shell scripting in my day job for the last 18 years (and before that Digital's DCL for the previous 18 years). I'm just trying to avoid reinventing the wheel.

Monitor Zap Status - Full E-mail...
I've installed Grandstream GPX-2000 phones and have successfully enabled one of my buttons to use Asterisk BLF for an extension. I can tell when this extension is available, is being rung, or is on the line. I'd like to do the same for my Zaptel channels, to be able to see when a line is onhook, ringing or offhook. I tried the following but alas, it doesn't seem to be working:

keytabs vs. secret store
Which is the preferred method of handling service principals when the samba server is an ads member -- turning on "use kerberos keytab" in smb.conf, or the default secrets.tdb? Is there any particular reason I should use one over the other? Also, all I see in secrets.tdb is the the machine password while in krb5.keytab i see 100+ principals corresponding to various combinations of
