netboot, vnc and no keyboard/mouse/monitor
hey guys,
I just created a custom netboot cd, that launches and loads from a
http source, but connects to a vnc listening viewer. All in all, not
hard to do, but what is different with this one is that it skips the
media check, has no prompts and allows you to start the install on a
machine that has no keyboard/mouse/monitor. Was handy for me as when i
have some boxes to load, I just

BackupPC FAQ? Backups Apparently Working, but Web Interface Shows Nothing
BackuPC host is CentOS 6.2. Just one windows XP client. SMB backups
appear to be working; there is data in the backup directory tree,
including a subdir named for the client, in which I can manually view
individual files that have been backed up.
Now trying to use the web interface. Apache lets me log in, but the
status screen shows nothing. Hosts screen says:

possible bug 5.1 - possibly more of a package issue
Hi there, not really sure if this is a bug, but more so rather a missing file...
I installed a fresh 5.1 copy very minimal - no desktop, etc. Now it
came up later that I would need a desktop on this install. So I was
going to just groupinstall in the Gnome Desktop.
# yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"
Now while processing the dependencies, it fails out with a dependency

Ad integration with centos 6
Can anyone point me to a tutorial on using Active Directory to authenticate
a centos 6 server? I just want to use it to authenticate, ssh and restrict
access to a particular ad group. I prefer to use the lightest method
possible. I know you can use ldap, or winbind, etc. I have been trying to
follow the ones I have been googling, but none of them seem "quit complete.
My issue is that I have

Incremental backups?
So I thought I'd get a head start for next week -
I have a low-power Linux box that has a few samba shares mounted, and
limited hard disk space. This box is connected to a tape library via
SCSI card.
I want to find the best way to create a full, then incremental backup of
the samba mounts, directly to tape. Some of the samba mounts are
appliances that cannot run any special

Centos backup tools
Hi all!
I'm building a raid box to use for backups, connectivity will be either
USB3 or esata.
Looking for suggestions on backup software I can use.
I know there's rsync, which may be a good solution. I also find backupPC
at epel, backintime also at epel, kbackup.
DejaDup looks interesting, but none of the repos I'm set up to use
shows it being available.

Basically we need to backup data incrementaly from windows server and centos

BackupPC and rsync
I have been using BackupPC via rsync daemons on the target machines and all has been working well. At least until about the time rsync went to version 3.0.6.
Since then backups have been failing for some targets. The failure is a TCP ZeroWindow issue. It looks like the server rsync process cannot empty it's buffer soon enough and eventually the process fails.
I really do not know if it is

evaluating backup systems: rsync
Considering using rsync on a couple systems for backup, I was wondering
if it's possible, and if so how difficult is it, to delete files which
have been backed up (in order to save space on the backup media).
Anyone with experience doing this?
