What''s going on here? I''m spewing UDP traffic at this thing, and it is
exceeding the ceil. Anyone know how to fix this?

has anyone tried adsl-optmizer kernel patches for dsl modems?
Hi
I''m using wondershaper like script. But noticed imperfect scheduling.
By googling, I found some patches that takes the aal5 atm overhead in
the scheduling algorithms.
http://www.adsl-optimizer.dk/ADSL-optimizer/
Before trying it, has anyone tried these patches? they apply on 2.4.29
kernel and 2.6.9 TC. I use centos4 with a 2.6 kernel, so I can''t try
these easily.
Thanks

leaky bucket on bursty multicast
Hi all,
I have an average 2mbit multicast stream that once in a while bursts
high (up to 20mbit/s) in short periods (about 200ms). Could anyone
please help me with directions using tc for configuing leaky bucket
shaping to this stream? I have a 5mbit/s ceiling.
My system is running gentoo linux 2.6.14, and I have compiled in all
QoS modules.
Thanks.

HTB shaping & borrowing info
Hello to everybody,
We want integrate in a router/firewall (Debian Based, 2.6 Kernel), an HTB
shaper.
The goal is to divide the traffic for classes of workstations, at example in
three classes,
let say A, B and C.
Example:
A 70 Mb/s
B 20 Mb/s
C 10 Mb/s
If B don''t make traffic, 7/8 of 20Mb/s must be assigned to A and all the
rest at B
We have used CBQ and HTB, with poor succes.

Dear list:
I have a problem I cannot handle yet, and need to

with anybody who can help me.
I have a 512/512 link to internet, that I want to
share between several computers. I have eth0, with a
public IP address, conected to Internet, and also,

new perflow rate control queue
Hi,
One of my customer needs per flow rate control, so I write one.
The code I post here is not finished, but it seems to work as expected.
The kernel patch is agains kernel 2.6.11, the iproute2 patch is against
iproute2-2.6.11-050314.
I write the code in a hurry to meet deadline. There are many other things
to do ahead for me. The code is written in 2 days (including read other

tc u32 match !port
How can i redirect all traffic that not come from port 80 to a flow ?
i was thing about some like
tc filter add dev imq1 parent 1: protocol ip prio 7 u32 match ip sport
!80 ......
But this not work.
Another doubt, if i have two rules that intersects , for example ,
one filter with u32 match ip src 10.10.10.10 flowid 1:10
and other with u32 match sport 80 0xffff flowid 1:11 , which one will

HTB MPU
Hi.
I wrote in a reply to a mail on here recently that you can''t set mpu
(minimum packet unit) on HTB as you can on CBQ.
I''ve just noticed that there is a patch on devik''s site which does mpu
and overhead.
http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/
For dsl users mpu is, for practical purposes going to be 106 - overhead
is still variable though, depending on packet size.

urgent question about tcng!
Hello List,
I''m new to QoS/tcng/HTB and friends, so please forgive me if my question
might be silly...
After having read lots of HowTo documents I''m totally confused...
The Challenge:
==============
I''ll have to deploy several "mirror" download servers (Linux) which must be
able to handle a huge number of HTTP download requests (about 10k to 20k

Question about htb class
Hi everyone.
I''m new to this list and I have some questions
regarding HTB class.
I was trying to see how tc sets the parameters for
HTB, but really couldnt understand them.
So, I thought that I might ask the wizards.
It''s mainly from the source code.
1. What is the cell_log ?
(its everywhere in the code)
2. Why does htb calculate its burst(buffer) with
tc_xmit_time() ? Is

Transfer rate above the desired (tc+htb)
Hi folks.
I started to play with tc+htb last week, and I must confess that this
thing is really driving me nuts.
All we want to do is control bw, with no borrowing.
In order to get the feeling on this subject, I have setup the
following test bed.
---A---B---C---
On B: eth0 connecting A and eth1 connecting C.
The script.
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb

Weird HTB behaviour in 2.6.17
Hello,
I''ve just compiled the kernel 2.6.17 and noticed an odd HTB behaviour.
For instance:
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:30 htb rate 1kbit ceil
750Kbit burst 15k
tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 15 u32 match ip dst
192.168.5.1 classid 1:30
The filter works ok and the traffic to 192.168.5.1 flows through the
class 1:30, but the rate gets much higher than

HTB ATM MPU OVERHEAD (without any patching)
I know there is that handy patch available to very efficiently use ATM
bandwidth, but I was wondering what the best values to use with a
non-patched iproute2 would be. Anyone here care to check my logic in coming
up with these numbers and perhaps suggest better values?
My transmit speed is 768kbps per ADSL line (I have two). This is the HTB
shaping I do on the interface (logic used for this

HTB on loopback gives a bit rate multiplied by 8
Hi,
I am trying to use htb to limit bandwidth on loopback for traffic
through particular port.
Here is the script I am using.
tc qdisc add dev lo root handle 1: htb
tc class add dev lo parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100kbit ceil 100kbit
tc class add dev lo parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50kbit ceil 50kbit

Im using a Linux machine with standard pc hardware with 3 seperate PCI

full duplex fast ethernet. IP forwarding is enabled in the kernel. All
hosts on the network have their time sychronised

HTB: Problem with excess bandwidth distribution
Hello,
I have a serious problem with HTB which I wasn''t able to solve myself.
I run a masquerading router with ppp0 as interface to the Internet.
Three clients need to share a downstream of 1 MBit, which I want
to divide with tc.
When I see a packet being forwarded to one of these clients, I give
it the appropriate unique mark:
iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 192.168.34.141 -j MARK

Why does scp stall on low bandwidth connections?
Hi,
I am new to tc and have been reading quite a bit on how to set it up etc.
Everything seems to be working fine, until I started scp-ing a large file
over a low bandwidth connection as part of my testing process.
Here is the setup:
my pc --- bridge running tc/htb --- rest of network
TC is filtering traffic from "my pc" and classifies it as 120kbit (see my
script below). I then scp a
