I search an plugin or gem, but don''t find nothing satisfactory. I believe to be stranger a technology that nails the DRY, have that create you vary equal tables, instead of using inheritance. Exists an soluction for this? I want a solution similar to this: create_table :people |t| do t.column :name t.column :address end create_table :customer |t| do t.column :person_id

Setting empty fields with in_place_editor_field
Hi all! Playing around with in_place_editor_field, I found that when you set a field to be empty, you can''t edit it at all anymore after that. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is intended to be? If so, is there any way around that behaviour? Is it just styling? Best regards, Raphael -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Generating Images/PDF Server-Side
Hi, I am working on a project where I need to generate a chart (a bit like a pie chart, but very customised) and insert this into a PDF document. Does anybody have any advice on ruby libraries (or other techniques) for doing this? Open to suggestions? The resulting PDF will be designed for printing and so ideally should be vector throughout (or any raster images 300dpi). I was thinking of some

Accessing model objects directly in the view
Is there any general guidelines for accessing model objects directly in the view? It seems like it would be a potential problem - that it would be better to keep model objects out of the view entirely. Instead, the controller should extract whatever data is needed from the model and put it into temporary objects, thus protecting the views from any changes in the models and keeping them from

Hello again, I guess this is more of a Ruby question, but here goes anyways... I want to intercept all calls to non existent class methods and then call an existing class method with the non existent name. In code... class MyModel < ActiveRecord::Base def MyModel.method_missing(symbol, *args) MyModel.func(symbol.id2name) end def MyModel.func(func_called) puts "You

scaffold_controller generator
Hi: I''m new to RoR and I apologize if this is a dumb question but I''ve read the guides, searched the archives and found nothing. If I generate a model object and then the scaffold_controller the result is different than just running the scaffold generator (the _form partial has no fields in the first case). I did not expected this and I wanted to first create the models, tweak

Machinist - having problems stubbing an after_create filter
Hi all I''m moving to using Machinist in my rspec tests and am having a problem with an after_create callback method that i need to stub out. It seems like calling ClassName.make will trigger this callback before i''ve had the chance to stub it. Can i stub it in my blueprint for that class? Or, can i stub the method for all instances of the class before i call ClassName.make?
