Hi, So far, if have understand correctly: I route the incoming tcpip message of port 8099 directly to 8080 and then the ingress filter on port 8099 has nothing to do!? Yes I think on different interface on one machine (different Ports for different Request, with different restriction). What has exactly to be done to set the policier before Prerouting! Mapping Samba Drives (Samba Digest 1721) (Suzanne George)
Hello happy Samba People, I use the following trick for mounting my Samba Maps at start-up at my WIN NT Workstation 4.0 (hate this beast). I use the logon Scripts that could be used by WIN NT. (See Directory : \system32\repl\import\scripts). You should give the file a "good" name (I use my Login Name for that (SVEN.BAT)). Then I use the "net use" in the Script for ex. :

Slow Samba share--why?
I trying to figure out why copying from a Samba drive to Windows XP is slower than an FTP transfer beween the same two machines. To copy the 110 MB file from Samba takes 400 seconds, and to transfer the same file by FTP takes 41 seconds. From using ethereal, and comparing a fast smb copy to a slow smb copy, I can see that the slow copy has a _lot_ more tcp traffic for a SMB single read

intermittent failure of ability to connect to samba share from win (NT/2k) client
First, my installation is samba 2.2.8 running as a daemon (not inetd) on Solaris 8 configured to use a WINS server and provide authentication via a PDC (same host as WINS server). I do have an lmhosts file in the samba /lib directory with the PDC/WINS server address in it. My globals section; [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP netbios name = SAMBASERVER security =

ISCI Network Hang - Lun becomes unavailable
I am sharing out ZFS ISCSI luns to my Mac. When copying large files, the network will hang in the middle of the transfer and the LUN will become unavailable until I plumb the NIC. This issue appears to only occur only when I am reading files (ie..syncing an ipod) and not writing (I''m not 100% sure though). When I snoop the interface I notice a bunch of ARP lookups. Any ideas? Thanks in

Shorewall help blacklist and restart/refresh
At the current time I am not subscribed to the mailing list. I have a blacklist that I got from www.peerguardian.net that is rather large ( 81 kb). When shorewall start command is issued it takes about 20 mins for it to load. Is this normal or should I do this another way? Also I noticed something very strange with shorewall .. I have cron do a shorewall restart command every 24 hours and

AW: Mapping Samba Drives (Samba Digest 1721) (Suzanne George)
Sorry Suzanne, but for this problem I did not have a solution! The Problem is, that WIN NT, start the Network with the LOGIN - Screen (one of the Security Mechanism). I've you try to enter the network request to the AUTOEXEC.BAT - File, it will not mountd // map one of the drives, because the network isn't start at this time! The next Point you could enter is after the Login - Screen

Proxy Arp Ip Conflicts
I must have something configured wrong somewhere. I''ve enabled proxy-arp on my shorewall 2.0.7 firewall. Works fine for what its supposed to do, I can see all the machines through it great. However, whenever its enabled, the network on the DMZ goes screwy. I''ve narrowed it down to this: when proxy arp is enabled for that interface, like such: echo 1 >
