Re: LARTC Digest, Vol 2, Issue 40
Hi Marcin, There is no problem to make limitation on a linux bridge. The rule must be the same as for a router: there must be applied on eth0 and eth1. QoS for lan users ...
Hi I have Linux box (Debian) that acting as a bridge. Eth0 and Eth1 are bridged (br0). Br0 have public IP. Eth0 connects to the internet. Eth1 connect to servers in DMZ (with public IPs). Eth2 connects my Lan (192.168.1.0/24). My connections is 2Mbit/2Mbit. I''m doing SNAT for my Lan. QoS on eth0 works fine for DMZ, but is there a possibility to doing QoS on

Little question about imq device
Witam I''ve found many examples where packets are redirected to IMQ device in PREROUTING chain for ingress traffic shaping purposes. But is there any sense in redirecting packets to IMQ in FORWARD chain also for ingress traffic shaping purposes? -- Pozdrawiam Marcin mailto:slacklist@op.pl _______________________________________________ LARTC

Gamest and QoS
Hi I share my bandwith (adsl 512/128) between 12 users. I set up simple qos script for incoming (IMQ) and outgoing traffic using htb in root, 4 classess and esfq qdisc at leafs. Interactive traffic goeas to class1 , http, mail etc. to class2, p2p, ftp to class3, and rest to class4. Classess divide link in proportion 20% (prio 1), 40% (prio 2), 20% (prio 3) ,20% (prio 4) This works

esfq hash type
Hi I have a small lan (10.0.0.0/8) behind my linux box. I use MASQUERADE to allow users connects to internet. I set up an esfq qdisc for outgoing traffic. And there is a little question. Does source hash type in esfq recognize NATed local ip''s? -- Pozdrawiam Marcin mailto:slacklist@op.pl _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing

Future of QoS in Linux
Hi I''m on my last year and I''m writing my final project about QoS support in Linux 2.4 kernels and, in general, about QoS in Linux OS. My professor asked me about future of QoS in Linux. And I asking you :) What are the difference between QoS subsystem in 2.4 and 2.6 kernels? What are the future plans for evolution of QoS support in Linux. -- Pozdrawiam Marcin

dcc irc sessions
Witam Anybody know how to deal with dcc irc sessions? I want to put them to lower priority queue, but i dont know how to track them, and then mark to use with fw filter. I tried iptables with -m helper --helper irc, but it seems to match only outgoing dcc sessions. But what about incoming? I''m shaping traffic from and to my small, NATed lan. -- Pozdrawiam Marcin

QOS Script difficulty on bridge
I''m playing with the rather excellent QOS script from Alexander Clouter at http://digriz.org.uk/jdg-qos-script/ So far I am really impressed with it - a very impressive example of the power of linux QOS rules (has pretty much everything in it from the LARTC Howto!) However, the instructions hint that "for QoS to affect locally generated traffic in a non ethernet bridge setup

imq custom device numbers
I made some changes to IMQ, so it is now possible to have custom numbers for IMQ devices. Useful when working with VLANs. You can get it at http://tuxpowered.net/. connmark on ifb interfaces
Hello I''m trying to switch from IMQ to IFB but I have a problem with traffic marked by ipp2p module. Looks like when traffic is redirected from ethX to ifbX it looses information about MARK. Here''s what I do to get ingress traffic to go to ifb interface: $TC qdisc add dev eth1.42 ingress $TC filter add dev eth1.42 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 10 u32 \ match u32 0 0

Bridge + leased line + tc
Hi, I can''t get traffic shaping working. This is my situation: -------- ------ Net1 ----- |router| -------------------- | TC | ----------- Net2 -------- leased line ------ eth1 eth0 We use the leased line for normal traffic but also for synchronisation between 2 servers. The leased line is 2mbit. The synchronisation

tc lockup
A few days ago I had a very big problem with tc. On the machine tc is used in many ways: - from crontab to load night-time and day-time bandwidth (at 1am and 8am) - from crontab to get statistics for qdiscs on WAN interfaces (every minute) - from perl/php database for changing user bandwidth (sometimes) What happened: At 1am the night-time bandwidth should be loaded. tc hanged up, and also

how to control bridge traffic using imq
bridge was configured with "brctl" three NIC was bind to br0 imq and htb was used to control traffic. #modprobe imq numdevs=3 "htb scripts" #iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i br0 -j IMQ --todev 1 #ip link set imq1 up but this can not do the traffic controling. please tell me how can i do _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 银行巨头聚会中原

HTB - not borrowing, not exceeding rate
Hello! I have a quite complicated setup. In my network on each interface there is bandwidth limitation for each user. Booth outgoing (on interface itself) and incoming (attached IMQ) traffic. There is main HTB class which limits bandwidth for whole interface and HTB subclasses for each user. Filtering is done with hashing filters. This setup was working correctly. But now in the network I

changing boxes
I''ve had a shorewall firewall protecting my home network for almost 3 years now which is currently on a RedHat 7.3 box and I''m running version 1.4.7 I''m replacing this box with a newer one and have set it up with Gentoo linux and the 2.6.9-r9 kernel and installed Gentoo''s distro of shorewall which is version 2.0.7. Creating a contended section of bandwidth with HTB and IMQ
Hi All, I''m trying to create a contended section of bandwidth using IMQ. I have the imq0 device up and running, with traffic passing through it. Firstly, I need to throttle the entire device imq0 to 2mbit/s. I would then like to add throttle rules for individual IP addresses, allowing them to pass up to 512kbit/s each, as long as imq0 has not reached its 2mbit/s. The configuration

Syslinux 6.02 BIOS - issue on physical devices
Hi Thanks for confirmation about syslinux 6.02 requirements. I see small misunderstanding. A used word "Syslinux 6.02 BIOS" mean the respective syslinux binary files from "/bios" subdirectory for PC's with Legacy PXE or PC's with PXE where CSM mode is enabled. Some idea where is the issue? Do the syslinux 6.02 working well from PXE on multiple PC's in your place?

ipmode compile error
imq and htb are used to control traffic. When I create a bridge with the bridge-utils, I get a new device : br0. I can shape traffic on this device, but I can not use iptables to mark packets. I used ipmode http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/~julian/#bridging my kernel is 2.4.19 when i compile kernel I get the following error: br_forward.o error 1 first_rule error 2 if I used ipmode, then I can
