Parameters for FormOptionsHelper select vs. FormTagHelper select_tag
I must be missing something when it comes to the parameter differences between form FormOptionsHelper select and FormTagHelper select_tag. Code that follows, works perfectly - <%= f.select :unit, units_to_select(@product), :size=>"20"%> The following code, does not. The helper function never even seems to be called. <%= select_tag "unit",

Select Enumerated Values with FormOptionsHelper
Hey, I''m new, so apologies if I''ve overlooked obvious resources or violated any etiquette rules for this list. Since rails does not support the MySQL enum data type, I''m following David''s advice of using a varchar and storing the valid values in the application: http://one.textdrive.com/pipermail/rails/2005-January/001536.html So here''s my

time_zone_select :priority_zones not working properly
I sent this earlier but I don''t think it ever came through. Sorry if this is a reposting. Here is an API docs example: time_zone_select( "user", ''time_zone'', TimeZone.us_zones, :default =>

Providing HTML in an error message generated by validation
All, I have some validation that I''m doing in a model. As part of the error message, I would like to provide an HTML link. What is the best approach to handling this? APPROACH 1: One way is to include ActionView::Helpers::UrlHelper include ActionView::Helpers::TagHelper in my model so that I can use link_to to generate my link (obv. I could hard code HTML as well). But anyway that

Best way to handle namespace collisions?
All, I have a little namespace collision here. I am trying to use both RubyfulSoup (an HTML parser - which I highly recommend by the way) and the ActionView::Helpers::TextHelper class. Within the TextHelper class, there''s an attempt to create a new "Tag" object. However, Tag is also defined in the RubyfulSoup gem and it is _this_ Tag class whose initialize method is

Want to use a view helper (TextHelper) in a model class
I have a model that deals with HTML and I want to use the text_helper.sanitize method to strip the HTML of Javascript. However, it doesn''t appear that I can get easy access to the text_helper methods from within a model. Anyone have any suggestions for how to do this? In general, I think that there are some ActionView helpers which are generic enough to want to use in a model class.

Is there a list of html_options for the FormOptionsHelper?
I''m looking for a way to select a default value from a select box, like this: select("user", "role_id", Role.find_all.collect {|r| [ r.name, r.id ] }, { :default_value => ''5'' } (of course, there is no ":default_value") If the form is being used on a ''create'' page, it should display a default in the select box. A rant about parameters

Specify a controller action via attribute in INPUT tag?
I have a pre-existing form with one existing "SUBMIT" tag generated by <%= submit_tag %> I would like to add another <INPUT type="submit" ...> to my form. How do I successfully associate that <INPUT> tag with a different controller action than the default one specified by my <%= start_form_tag %>? Or does this approach even make sense? In RoR, is
