IP Tables on a bridge
Not normally a question for this group, but you guys are very
bridge/router/firewall savvy, so I thought I''d toss it here.
I have a bridge. On one side of the bridge is that fancy thing called the
Internet. On the other side is my LAN. The bridge is the obvious
demarcation line and a good place to put a firewall.
Now, I have all my iptables stuff planned out, EXCEPT for nat.

squid on a dual ISP cenario
Hi to all
For is just az concept question :
There are a need to change something in Squid3 config when it are running
in the same box as shorewall with 2 ISP ?
I''ve been thinking in do this at home, as a proof of concept for future
implememtations ...
I allways use Roberto''s Debian package to implement Shorewall .

failover works - but balancing does not
here''s the setup (two dsl - same provider)
+-----> link1
LAN----- linux box --| |----------internet

the setup is ok in terms of the failover requirement. the other link
takes over when one is down. however, there is a very noticeable lag
when both lines are up. i''ve tried changing

Authentication problems using libsmbclient API and DFS shares
Hi,
I'm trying to create a map of DFS links to actual
server/share's.? I know that you can get this information by logging
on to the DFS root server, but I'm trying to use the libsmbclient API to
get this information.
I have created a fairly simple DFS
structure on 2003 servers with everything on the same domain.
//MyDomain/DFSRoot
/Link1 -> //Fileserv-1/FileShare1

Inaccurate results without natting the traffic.
Hi folks.
For quite a while, I tried to use linux (cbq and htb) to control
bandwidth in order to replace a cisco equipment used to play this role
on our network.
After trying here and there, with a bunch of different distros,
different versions, different compilations, ... the closest I could
get was as follows:
(using htb.init and cbq.init)
Desired BW ==> Achieved BW
128k ==> 404.78

re-linking hard links
Hello,
I have a situation where I have numerous files with numerous hard links
to each of them on an ext3 RHEL4.2 system. Some of these files are
duplicates of the others. I would like to re-link all of the
duplicates to point to a single inode. For instance if file1 has
hardlinks link1 and link2, and file2 has hardlinks link3 and link4, I
need to change it so that link1, link2 (these

iptables+iproute problem
Hi there.
I have followed some documents found here and there, but do not have
already success implementing a script using iptables and iproute.
What I need is to send all traffic trough an ADSL line, but mail trough an
expensive and slow DS0. The mail server lies on the PC acting also as
firewall. I include the script. When using that I get some error messages
(I found that the flush command

Shorewall 1.4.10 RC1
I''m doing more releases of 1.4.* to try to work around the absurd way in which
the 2.6 kernel supports ipsec.
1.4.10 will provide a means for excluding multiple destination hosts/subnets
from masquerade/SNAT.

Multiple gateways
Hello,
Since I could not figure out my previous problem, let me ask in a different way.
I have 3 networks inside my LAN. They are 172.16.55.0/24 ,
172.16.56.0/24 and 172.16.57.0/24 respectively. They all use eth0 as
an alias.
I also have 2 uplinks to different ISPs. One of them is leased line
and the other one is ADSL.
One of my uplink is 81.8.120.18/30 with gateway 81.8.120.17 on eth1
and the

Bridging two subnets selectively using routing
Hi LARTC,
I have two networks that I manage, A and B. They both have their own
primary gateways for hosts on the network, let''s call them AR and BR.
There is another box, A1, which lives on network A but also has a wire
connecting it to a switch on network B. My goal is to let hosts on B
access three particular hosts on A''s subnet (192.168.4.0/24) and let
hosts on A access one

sip/iax problem - udp conntrack entries not getting destroyed
Hello all,
I have an asterisk sip/iax peer behind a linux gateway doing nat. I''m using
pppoe with a dynamic ip that changes frequently.
The problem is when the line drops the sip/iax registrations drop as well,
and they don''t register thereafter. When I check the conntrack entries, I
noticed the entries still have the old wan ip address and because of
keepalive (i''m

Balancing multiple connections and NAT
Hi,
I have a client connected to the ''net through 3 ISP''s. Have set up a
Linux box to do routing and load sharing for the 3 connections. A
fourth interface is connected to the LAN with private IP addresses.
Am using iptables to SNAT traffic to the appropriate IP depending on
the interface the packet gets routed onto. The setup looks something
like this:

Shorewall-Linux and Vonage VOIP rules setting+
Hello - I am not a subscriber to the mailing, please
email me with help at mfabache@yahoo.com
My shorewall (v2.0.1) has been working wonderful for
the past year. I just added my Vonage and cannot get
the Phone Adapter to sync up (2 blinks (looking for
IP))
All I have done is run an ethernet cable from the WAN
outlet on the phone adapter to a lan port on the
router.
After googling, I found
