Re: LARTC Digest, Vol 7, Issue 7
Hi Andreas! I mainly understand what you mean, but best for me would be if you could make an example from the script I have. I know I did something wrong into it, but I still can''t see the error. If you could fix the error from my script that would be much appreciated. Looking forward to hear from you, Daniel Phlander lartc-request@mailman.ds9a.nl wrote: Send LARTC mailing list

Re: RE: Control Traffic
Hi Andreas! I mainly understand what you mean, I tried to fix something on the script, I don''t know if I did it well. Can you take another look on it please and if is wrong to make the corrections directly on it so that I see where the mistake is... With this script I want to make limits for IP class 85.120.48.0/25 for international traffic in 256 KBps classes and for metropolitan

iproute2/nano-howto: dual external routing, a "virtual subnet"
A site I administer has dual T1''s. We have this set up according to NANO-HOWTO[1] using Julian''s routes patch on a late model 2.4 kernel. All is well, has been working well for a long time. Recently one of our T1 providers went belly up and we got something better. Now we have a /28 where previously we only used one IP per interface. Present interfaces: eth0 - T1#1, single

Proxy-ARP
I''m working with LEAF boxes as gateway machines. I''m trying to implement Proxy-ARP to build a bandwidth manager for my network. I''ve gone as per the lartc howto to implement a transparent bridge in an existing network and plan to put in my tc script after this. I''m configuring the box as a standalone one before plugging it into the network. I''m getting

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
No. Network Manager is always disabled on our builds since at least Cent5 days. The network stack has always been able to be managed properly without relying on Network Manager. Is that now an absolute requirement? It never has been prior. Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
Have you tried to use NetworkManager ? After all ,anything network related should be done by it. [root at system ~]# nmcli connection add con-name dummy0 ifname dummy0 type dummy ? Connection 'dummy0' (9fdd74fa-c143-4991-9bac-0e542704ac89) successfully added. [root at system ~]# reboot Shared connection to glustera closed. Network problem: packets are lost in domU
Hello, I am having big problems with Xen virtual network interfaces. First I tried typical bridge support, no luck. The packets sent from dom0 to domU seemed to disappear somewhere. Then, to debug the problem I have set up a simple point-to-point link and still have the same problem. I am using Xen 3.0.4-1 and Linux 2.6.16.x in both dom0 and domU. I have tried kernel 2.6.16.35 and 2.6.16.41. I

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
Requirement is a very strong word , but you should consider using it and here is a short demo why: - By default, RHEL uses NetworkManager to configure and manage network connections, and the /usr/sbin/ifup and /usr/sbin/ifdown scripts use NetworkManager to process ifcfg files in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ directory. [root at system ~]# ls -l /usr/sbin/ifup lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 22 21

Bug in the HOWTO: proxy-arp (?)
Hello alltogether, I''m new to the list, so please excuse any violations of listiquette... I didn''t have to much to do with linux based firewalling and routing for quite a time and found that proxy-arp changed in between... As I struggled with it I found that the Advanced routing... howto wasn''t to helpfull. Especially the documentation seems to be rather vice versa to

multipath feature
Hello Will someonekindly update me on whether julians''s patch is now a standard feature on the linux kernel release? Is there a decision to provide the same feature but re-worked in some way (i.e out-of the-box dead gateway detection for example) in a future release. Or do I still need to patch the latest kernel release, and do all the "stuff" as explained in the

Does anyone have a working proxyARP setup?
If you have a working proxyARP setup, will you please post it? I''ve tried to insert a Linux box between the DSL connection and the switch, but I''m getting nowhere. Everything works correctly when all the servers in this network use the switch to get to the DSL. Any box directly connected to the DSL also works correctly. http://www.sjdjweis.com/linux/proxyarp/ makes it sound
