Hosting Music for Free
I would like to be able to host music not by myself for free. The only
problem is, I can't find a place that will do it. When I want to share a
song with a forum, I am currently forced to use RapidShare, MegaUpload, or
UploadingIt, all of which causes problems for somebody. I would like to be
able to host a song, have a link to click on it, and it doesn't have to be
downloaded and cause

Wine 1.0.1 (Ubu 9.04) + Dan Elwell's Broadband Speedtest = Error 13 : Type Mismatch.
Hi,
sorry if this is a repost, but may be that GMANE didn't pick up the original
article yet (sent yesterday).
I wanted to try to start the http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net program under
Wine 1.0.1 (shipped with Ubu J. 9.04).
The program in question is a shareware, free download, paid to get extended
functionality, EULA.
With winetricks I have installed : VBRUN6 (required), OLE2,

CentOS Mirrored On RapidShare [Links Here]
Hey List,
Firstly I am sorry for the length of this email and that you are all
having too receive it but the point is that this email will now go
into the archive and be indexed by Google (hopefully) and thusly,
people will be able to find these links through Google. My goal is to
mirror CentOS on RapidShare. "Why you fool there are loads of
mirrors?" you might ask; simply for

Redistributing CentOS
Hey Listees,
Just a quick question. I hope this isn't received incorrectly by
everyone as I do mean the best for the CentOS project;
I am wondering if it would be frowned upon to upload CentOS to my
RapidShare account. I understand I can freely distribute CentOS but to
what extent? In its simplest form I only really want to upload CentOS
5.2 to my RapidShare account for speed.
I had to

HP-UX/AIX sendfile patches.
I have a fix for the sendfile.c code for HP-UX - length not properly
specified prior to call.
I've also added code to support the AIX send_file() function and
configure.in code to check for AIX specific send_file API and sets
AIX_SENDFILE_API if successful.
Could you consider this patch for 3.0.11?
I also sent a web/cgi.c patch for "struct var" last week with respect to

I put this code block in files_controller.rb

raise MissingFile, "Cannot read file #{path}" unless
File.file?(path) and File.readable?(path)
options[:length] ||= File.size(path)

Strange send_file problem
Or perhaps I am stumbling in newbie fashion (tho I have active_merchant
and a store site basically up and running in development mode - still I
don''t feel I always understand what is going on.)
So, when I have
send_file(filename, :type => ''application/x-zip'')
redirect :action => index
the send_file seems to hang, rather than complete. I''m deducing

Slow transfers when using a linux-based client vs Windows client
Hey,
I've got a performance issue when transferring files from a Samba
4.1.6-Debian server. When using a Debian client, I get around 4.5 megabytes
per second, but when using a Windows (8) client I get around 21 megabytes
per second!
Any idea what would be causing this massive discrepancy?

send_file and locking files after download?
Hello,
I''m working on a download service which grants users a one-time-download
access to files. The idea is to write an entry to a database table after
a successful download that "locks" the download link for the user.
After doing some quick tests with send_file I noticed that send_file
does not block until the user has downloaded the full file, but proceeds

Simple file download doesn't work - please help!
I need to get a simple file download to work.
I want users to be able to click ''I agree'' after scrolling through a
license agreement
and the click initiates a download of some software which is in a zip
file.
I tried using send_file and had some problems I previously posted
about. So I am trying
to not use send_file. (If anyone can help me with my previous send_file

form_remote_tag and send_file
All,
I have an existing form that calls an action which in turn creates a PDF
and sends it to the browser using send_file.
I want to change this form to use form_remote_tag so that I can set a
progress bar and once the PDF is finished, the progress bar hides and
the PDF opens.
The send_file data is being sent to the browser, but not displayed
anywhere. When I use a regular form post, it

Making output_compression work with send_file
While working with the newly fixed output compression plugin, one of
the devs in my team discovered that it breaks with send_file(). So if
you are using send_file() in your application you must get the fixed
file I''ve put at: http://devblog.famundo.com/output_compression.rb.
The change is actually in checking for the Content-Disposition header
added by send_file(). See the full writeup
