I have this set up

candidate.resources :canbackgrounds
candidate.resources :canpositions
end
I just coded up teh canpositions and now all

rails edge
hi,
first time trying rspec, and rails edge. Are there any known issues
running rspec with rails edge?
for one, apparently script/generate scaffold_resource has been
renamed just "resource". Do I just search/replace "scaffold_resource"
with "resource" in file rspec_resource_generator.rb ? Somethings
still missing.

problem POSTing with curl and REST using scaffold_resource
I issued the following curl command to post to the database using
REST:
curl -i -X POST -d "<heartrate><heartRate>102</
heartRate><sessionID>1002</sessionID><timeStamp>15068</timeStamp></
heartrate>" http://localhost:3000/heartrates
I have tested the GET (with curl also) and it works fine!
curl http://localhost:3000/heartrates/45

[PLUGIN] rspec_resource_generator - RESTful scaffold generator with RSpec specifications
rspec_resource_generator
========================
By Pat Maddox
Use this generator to generate RESTful scaffolding with RSpec specifications.
Syntax is exactly the same as the scaffold_resource generator:
./script/generate rspec_resource ModelName [field:type field:type]
When you run this generator, it will create a migration, model, and
model spec file. In addition, it gives you a RESTful

8th method for scaffold_resource
I was reading a blog where at RailsEurope David spoke about adding a
"search" method into the scaffold_resource. Anyway I haven''t seen
anything else on it and wanted to know if there is any more information
someone here could share.

Setting up Mongrel and Apache , some direction needed
I have a site that is PHP on Apache / RedHat , but will send requests to a
subdomain (running Rails) for database operations.
I believe the set up should be to have ROR using Mongrel, and an Apache
virtual host passing requests from apache to mongrel.
Does this sound correct ?
I believe the Virtual Host is set up in Apache.
One of my problems is I can''t find the httpd.conf file for

Rails 2.0.2 + RJS
Hi
I had ajax commenting on my app, which worked perfectly on Rails
v1.2.6, but does not work the same in Rails 2.02. Basically the
comment gets added, but the visual effects do not work (ie lines 2 + 3
of create.rjs)
create.js
page.insert_html :bottom, ''comments'', :partial => ''comment''
page.visual_effect :appear, "comment_#{@comment.id}"

rspec_resource error
First of all hi, I''m new to the list, and rather new to rspec as will
probably show in myquestion.
I have tried installing rspec and rspec_on_rails as plugs both using
"script/install" and
"piston import" commands using the "current release install instructions"
here [1]. However,
there doesn''t seem to be any mention of the rspec_resource

Storing multiple choices in databases
As an example - you have a select list of all the U.S. states and the user
can make multiple choices.
How do you grab all those choices into the database and they would be used
for queries.
I was reading up on serialize() but the warning in AWDWR is that it doesn''t
work well for queries. Also composites / aggragates seems a bit much, maybe
not.
I know in the past I''ve used

Weird PXE calling convention question
Hi,
I am mucking around with the pxelinux code for S&G's and I have a
generic question about the pxe calling convention:
Does the parameter structure and opcode HAVE to be passed onto the stack
the PXE BIOS passed in when the pxelinux binary is executed at 0:7C00?
The PXE spec says:
"SS:SP is to contain the address of the beginning of the unused portion
of the PXE services

Catching a list of variables with a Controller
Hi All,
I have been learning some ruby and some Camping at the same time by
implementing a little webapp to track expenses (one man''s blog...) that
includes the ability to tag entries with 1 or more tags.
I wanted to offer the possibility to narrow the view of expenses by adding
tags to a filter (this works) and I also wanted this filter to be reflected
in the URL. Like so:

questions rspec on rails
Hi, rather than flooding this list with separate emails, I''ve been
queueing up questions using rspec with rails. (an irc channel would
be nice too :) Here ya go...
- Is there a way to test named routes?
- Could I get an example how to test an ajax request
(link_to_remote)? would that go in view? and/or in controller spec?
- Can you assert which layout template is rendered in a

RESTful Rails and other musings
Hi all,
I would first like to introduce myself to the Ruby on Rails (RoR)
community and to say that I hope to begin to build some relationships
with other RoR developers.
I''m a long time Java programmer (5+ years). Java was my first
experience with Object Oriented Programming (OOP). Before Java I
developed using many other languages including C, Pascal, Fortran,
BASIC, Visual Basic,

[PIMP] Topfunky''s httperf PeepCode screencast
Hey Everyone,
Topfunky (Geoffry) has created a great PeepCode screencast on using
httperf to performance measure your web applications:

http://peepcode.com/products/benchmarking-with-httperf
Topfunky put a ton of work into this and really got it right. The
attention to detail is very good and he researched

Evil Scaffold
I read the Amy Hoy''s presentation on why scaffold is not a good thing for beginners. For admin
application, is it ok to use scaffold?
