Does acts_as_attachment :storage => :db_system work?
I found the post about needing to install acts_as_attachement_1_1_6 if
you are not on edge rails. But I am having trouble getting db_system
storage to work. As far as I can tell in from the database, things are
working, but I don''t see how my model table hooks up with the db_files
table so I am having trouble altering the image_tag from the tutorial

Session IDs and SWFUpload
Hi
I''m using SWFUpload in one of my applications, but it has one big
shortcoming: it doesn''t maintain the session. Let me explain:
The user has to login to the application, thus creating an
authenticated session (cookie _session_id client side and the
sessions table server side). However, when you use SWFUpload, the
upload script is called with a new session

resource_feeder feedback
Let me apologize in advance as this is a topic that I feel passionate
and opinionated about. If I''m coming on too strong, please forgive me.
=== Be opinionated===
My first piece of advice is simple: be opinionated. Change the method
name to simply <feed_for>. Have it default to doing the right thing.
Perhaps give an option to change the default feed format, but default to

Login Restfully
In DHH''s keynote, he alluded to doing logins with REST. Has anyone
implemented this, and if so, would you mind elaborating on how you did
it please?
Thanks in advance.

code for uploading files to the filesystem instead of db
Does anyone have any standard code for uploading files to the
filesystem?
I''ve got code already for uploading images to the database but I''d
prefer to store the files on the filesystem.
In particular I need to know how to
(a) ensure a file has been selected in the file_field
(b) how to extract the filename from the file_field
(c) how to actually move the file from client to

ActiveResource and RESful edit
Hi
I''d like to know how to have ActiveResource generate a URL for the
/teams/1/edit
type of resource.
I''ve got custom_methods.rb and have used
Team.find(1).get(:edit)
This generates
http://localhost:xxxx/teams/1/edit.xml
But all I get returned is a hash of the attributes (in this case of
team 1), rather than an object of team 1.
In other words the

Hello,
Just wondering if someone here as successfully ported Liquid to use with a database. I would like to try it out but not sure how Liquid integrates with current templates.
Thanks

STI, subclasses and callbacks
I have a STI class tree. I want to set some default values (calculated
values so I can''t set it in the database as defaults) on every created
instance regardless of what subclass is actually instantiated. So I
figured adding a after_create callback in the top class in the hierarchy
should do the trick. It seems it doesn''t get called :(
Code:
class SuperClass <

I have a problem getting attachments to work in a specific case...
I have the following data model (this is a relevant subset of it):

- a journal belongs to a log and can have many attachments
- an attachment belongs to a journal

Moving page_cache_directory
Howdy. I''m working on a RoR CMS and need cached pages to all be in
public/cache rather than public [in order to set svn:ignore on all the files
properly]. I can get page_cache_directory set correctly and the pages are
cached in the right place but Mongrel isn''t serving them because it''s only
looking for them in public. During development I know I can set -r

mongrel_send_file gem plugin
served piping hot fresh from my svn repo:
http://svn.techno-weenie.net/projects/mongrel/mongrel_send_file/README
== mongrel_send_file GemPlugin
This is a simple plugin to handle the sending of secure files from a
rails app. Here''s the typical process:
- Rails app authorizes user to download file
- Rails app sets file info in the session, redirects to custom URL

Install plugin acts_as_auth.. no access to techno-weenie.net
please help me get this plugin installed...
I have no access to techo-weenie.net due to a firewall blocking the
weenie crap in its domain name.
more specifically, i''m trying to do this:
script/plugin install http://svn.techno-weenie.net/projects/plugins
and it bombs.
On a machine w/ access to this repository, I did an svn checkout and

Images larger than 40k uploaded with attachment_fu won't display
I have a problem displaying images when using attachment_fu. When I
try to display the image, only about 40k appears in the browser, and
with some images even that much is not visible (just garbage when I
view source). I can display images smaller than 40k correctly.
I''m storing the images in the database (mysql) and haven''t tried
storing in the file system to see if that works

DB trigger vs before_create
Hello everyone,
I''m having trouble figuring out which approach is better.
I have the following tables: products, orders and line_items.
Every time an Order is placed, the quantity field in the products
table has to be updated for each LineItem in the Order. One option is
to use DB triggers which is not as portable as using before_create in
the Order model. But with before_create I cannot

GzipFilter gemplugin now available
This GemPlugin will gzip your HTTP responses from mongrel if the
client says that it supports it (eg, most modern browsers). I''ve
tested it in IE6, Firefox 1.5 and Firefox 2.0RC3
Install:
gem install gzip_filter --source http://edenli.com
Configure (assuming rails):
cd RAILS_ROOT
echo ''uri "/", :handler => plugin("/handlers/gzipfilter")''
