tc strange behaviour (some discoveries)
hi All, seems like a kernel problem when I do the following on kernel 2.6.12.5 tc qdisc add dev lo root handle 1: htb default 1 tc class add dev lo parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 512kbit ceil 1mbit all works as expected (traffic is limited to 1mbit), but this doesn''t work the same way on kernel 2.6.14.3, and actually only ceil has effect (in my previous message I mentioned

htb child classes don''t borrow form "parent''s parent class" :(
Dear list, I have the problem that child classes don''t seem to issue the parent class to borrow from their parent. This is a simplified version of my script: tc qdisc del dev $DEV root tc qdisc add dev $DEV root handle 1: htb default 10 tc class add dev $DEV parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 10mbit tc class add dev $DEV parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 1kbit ceil 512kbit #groups tc

Why does this script noet work (bandwidth, tc en u32)
Hi, Can anyone point me out where the script below is wrong? All I want is that host 172.31.1.1 can only use 10 megabit. If I run this script on the in-between router nothing happens (the host uses still the full 100 mbit, tested with iperf) , so i assume that something must be wrong.... #!/bin/sh # LAN1 NIC tc qdisc del dev eth0 root tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb tc class add dev

QoS - Ping problem
Hello all, I have set my QoS solution and now I am facing a little problem... When I ping to my server it has some lost packages: Estatísticas do Ping para 172.30.0.1: Pacotes: SENDED = 1029, RETURNED = 880, LOST = 149 (14% de perda), Aproximar um número redondo de vezes em milissegundos: Mínimo = 0ms, Máximo = 686ms, Média = 105ms If I disable my QoS ping stats to be ok. I even have

What is the reccomended minimum rate for leaf htb class for accurate operation?
Hi, I''m trying to setup QoS in my TSL box. Following to mailing list reccomendations I changed PSCHED_CPU but can''t get accurate shaping with HTB. I have disabled HYSTERESIS also (by setting it to 0). I have Intel Celeron 1.8Mhz (TSC supported I think). ******** My script ****** tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 22 r2q 10 # Class corresponding interface

This is the link I serve to my clients, so I make this classes: $TC qdisc add dev $DL root handle 1: htb default 60 CLASS="/sbin/tc class add dev $DL parent" $CLASS 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 4096Kbit $CLASS 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 256Kbit ceil 3072Kbit burst 15k $CLASS 1:1

HTB traffic shaping odd effects
Hi, I''m trying to perform some (what I consider) basic traffic shaping on our network utilising HTB. I have mostly reused the example on the lartc.org site: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 10 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100mbit burst 24k tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50mbit ceil 80mbit burst 19k tc class add dev eth0

HTB: Problem with excess bandwidth distribution
Hello, I have a serious problem with HTB which I wasn''t able to solve myself. I run a masquerading router with ppp0 as interface to the Internet. Three clients need to share a downstream of 1 MBit, which I want to divide with tc. When I see a packet being forwarded to one of these clients, I give it the appropriate unique mark: iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 192.168.34.141 -j MARK

OpenSwan traffic shaping with HTB & sfq
Hi All, I''ve got an interoffice IPSEC VPN in place that I''m trying to give priority to terminal service (tcp 3389) traffic. I''ve created rules at each end, but have hit a bit of a dillemma. As the data is encrypted I must also give highest priority to protocol 50 otherwise the priority is lost as the packet gets encrypted. When I do this however, I can''t

Creating a contended section of bandwidth with HTB and IMQ
Hi All, I''m trying to create a contended section of bandwidth using IMQ. I have the imq0 device up and running, with traffic passing through it. Firstly, I need to throttle the entire device imq0 to 2mbit/s. I would then like to add throttle rules for individual IP addresses, allowing them to pass up to 512kbit/s each, as long as imq0 has not reached its 2mbit/s. The configuration
