multicast NAT
I have a standard 3 interface shorewall setup and I want to receive
multicast stuff from ''net'' -> ''loc''. This requires me, first, to do an
IGMP join which involves 192.168.1.x -> 224.0.0.x being NATed out as the
''net'' interface''s IP address. Obviously replies have to be NATed back to
''loc'' addresses.

masc and multicast
I am trying to set up my Shorewall box to forward multicast packets to
my local net. I do have some problems with mrouted (see below), but I
can join and add routes using smcroute. Multicast works when shorewall
is disabled. I got a lot of help from the following.

Sanity check for Shorewall and Openswan VPN and 2.6
I''m just looking for a quick sanity check to make sure what I''m finding
is really all necessary here.
I''m upgrading a gateway/firewall from Linux 2.4 to 2.6 using Mandrake 10.1.
In the old 2.4 kernel I structured my firewall rules around the ipsec0
interface, which I understand isn''t present with Openswan
running under 2.6 (no KLIPS). Ok,
So as I start to

Multicast and Router mode
Hi,
I have seen http://www.tinc-vpn.org/pipermail/tinc-devel/2010-October/000473.html
and so tried out for myself to see if multicast would work in tinc
using routing mode. I'm using tinc 1.0.19. My test involved sending a
ping out on 224.1.1.1 (as 224.0.0.0/24 is a special case), and while I
could see the traffic reaching the other tinc daemons, it never seemed
to go out to the local

Shorewall and multicast
Hi, all!

Can I enable multicasting via shorewall?

I have router with Gentoo Linux (one interface to ISP, one with alises - to
local network). Shorewall work perfect!
But now I need setup Quagga (zebra) for dynamic routing between one more
router via another provider.
All routers daemons (zebra, ripd, ospf) used multicasting.

In my configuration already enabled allowBcast and etc.

[HELP] Mutlicast over GRE tunnel
Hi,
I got a problem similar to this one
(http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2005q4/017614.html), GRE tunnel
can forward normal IP packets such as ICMP but failed to tunnel
multicast traffics.
Here''s the setup:

Q: Routing the Same IP simultaneously on different computers ?
Hi,
I''ve asked this elsewhere and received hints but no one seems to have a
concrete explanation :-
What I am looking to do is to be able to configure a Linux based router to
be able to share THE SAME SINGLE Public IP address between the linux router
and a
single computer on the lan acting as the DMZ host (NOT normal NAT IP sharing
!).
So basically you have a linux router with two

Newbie-needs help
Hello all:
I''ve read the documentation and am not quite sure where to start.
What I''m trying to do is build a network with a 3 NIC Shorewall router.
My system is behind a routed /49 network.
I''d like to use 2 or 3 of the static IP addresses for my DMZ ( DNS server, mail, webserver etc ) and
then have my remaining machines in a private network NATed is some way.

smcroute - mroute: pending queue full, dropping entries
Hello
I am running smcroute(version 0.9) on Linux 2.2.16-22 and I have configured
two multicast (S,G) addresses to forward. The forwarding is working. I get
the following message several times per minute.
mroute: pending queue full, dropping entries
The kernel has the following options
CONFIG_IP_MULTICAST=y
#CONFIG_IP_ROUTER=n # is this required???
CONFIG_IP_MROUTE=y
CONFIG_NET_IPIP=m

v1.2/DNAT
Some probably wish v1.2.12-2 out of Debian Woody would just go away, but it''s
what I''m using and really don''t wish to upgrade at this time (but will
eventually). My needs are rather simple and I''m sure it can handle the job.
I''ve read and re-read the FAQs and searched extensively for docs on what my
problem might be, but just cannot put my finger

Port forwarding/DNAT of broadcast packets?
Hi folks,
Has anyone out there done port forwarding or DNAT for UDP packets that
are normally sent to the broadcast address (255.255.255.255)?
I have to support a nasty database application called FileMaker Pro
(those of you who know it are probably groaning about now), which uses
broadcasts to locate the database server. Theoretically, i can get
around this requirement by using LDAP lookups

leaky bucket on bursty multicast
Hi all,
I have an average 2mbit multicast stream that once in a while bursts
high (up to 20mbit/s) in short periods (about 200ms). Could anyone
please help me with directions using tc for configuing leaky bucket
shaping to this stream? I have a 5mbit/s ceiling.
My system is running gentoo linux 2.6.14, and I have compiled in all
QoS modules.
Thanks.

OpenVPN and DNAT
Hello Tom and all,
Quick question: Is it possible to operate an OpenVPN server from behind
a firewall?
Is it as simple as setting it up and placing:
DNAT	net	loc:192.168.10.20	udp	5000	-	ipaddress

Can i relay a udp://@<multicast-address>:<port> stream using Icecast2?
Hello to all,
I am a newbie to Icecat2. I already know how to use darkice as a source
but I can't find any information on how to relay a udp multicast stream
like "udp://239.192.0.145:5000 for" example. Can icecast2 stream this
directly or do I need to use some source client?
