load balancing: per route or per interface?
Hi! I''m doing load balancing for 5 dsl lines, each one with a dsl router attached to a linux machine ethernet plug. The problem is that I''m adding 15 more dsl lines, and I don''t have enough PCI slots in the linux machine to sum up 20 ethernet plugs (I already have 2 quad ethernet cards). So I''m considering connecting all dsl routers and the linux machine to a

counter-strike
Hi list! I have a LAN server with Gentoo Linux. It''s a Pentium III at 1000 MHz with 256 MB SDRAM. I''ve implemented a QoS solution with HTB and SFQ. Here is the diagram: _______________________________________________________________________ 1:--+----1:1 - [ counter-strike & icmp ] rate=1Mbit; ceil=1Mbit; | prio 0; (u32 filter

filter performance/optimization questions
hi i''m using htb + u32 filters, and i was wondering if there is something one can optimize at this stage. i have a lot of filters (~ 50.000 / interface, and there are two interfaces), and around 4500 classes / interface. the traffic going through this machine is something around 210-230mbit/s at 50kpps. as you can imagine, the load is pretty high. in fact (as it''s a dual xeon at

Wireless links + Realtime video >= Headache! (long queue delays)
Hello LARTC gurus. I''m new to this list and have a mind boggling problem that I cannot resolve. Let me describe my problem: We have a custom built wireless camera comprised of an IP encoder and a BitsyX running Linux. It communicates to an antenna unit (Bitsyx) which plugs into a Windows machine with a digitial video recorder: [IP Video Encoder] -> [Linux Box 1] - 2Mbit Wireless

QoS in wireless networks
Hello, I''m trying to configure several wireless routers with QoS support. The idea is to implement differentiated services so that VoIP traffic gets the maximal priority, then video, control traffic, interactive data traffic and best-effort traffic. I have seen that CBQ used to be chosen as qdisc for implementing bandwith share in DiffServ but now HTB is preferred because it is

How to limit per tcp session ?
Dear folks, I ve fully read lartc.txt document to make sure my question still unexplained in that document. I want to limit per tcp session, how to do that with HTB or CBQ ? Inside lartc.txt, there is an example for full NAT QoS solution, but thats not what i meant. Thanks.. Traffic shaping an apartment building
Hi, I live in a rural community where adsl and cable is not widely available. I correctly have an option of using adsl or cable at my location. Ten miles away my friends apartment building has no option of cable or adsl. I set-up a wireless link between my friends apartment building and my house. It works great for him and me and the adsl company doesn''t care because they

Strange Routing
Hi Guys, I have some strangeness with routing, using standard route map.connect '':controller/:action/:id'' map.connect '':controller/:action/:id.:format'' Using console I did >> rts = ActionController::Routing::Routes >> rts.generate(:action => "edit", :controller => ''vendorlocations'', :id => 10) =>

Frottle + Bridge + IMQ
Hi, I''m trying to configure IMQ to work on the same machine with frottle (http://frottle.sourceforge.net). The problem is both feed themselves packets through netfilter queueing mechanism, but currently there can only be one netfilter queue per protocol family. To explain why I need IMQ in the first place I have to explain what frottle does. It is a deamon that tweaks the behaviour of a

Wireless cannot ping gateway after 6.3 CR updates
I'm having a wireless connection issue with an HP laptop and a Zotac media server after the 6.4 package updates from CR repository. Nothing changed with wireless config as far as I can tell. Both have been working fine with previous releases of 6.x. Oddly, if a cat 5 cable is connected for a few seconds and then disconnected the wireless works fine and survives a 'service network

Autoscrolling for Draggables and Sortables
Hi all, I''ve applied an experimental patch today to the scripaculous trunk. Setting the scroll option on Draggables or Sortables to an element (or an element id) will attempt to auto-scroll this element when dragging. See test/functional/dragdrop3_test.html for a demo/usage. It''s modelled after the behaviour in the Mac OS X finder, with variable scrolling speed depending

Can R do rts (Regular Time Series) like S-Plus?
Dear readers, S-Plus have a rts function (Regular Time Series), which is used like so: fveks<-read.csv('http://louise.hoffman.googlepages.com/veks.csv',header=TRUE,sep=',') attach(fveks) acf(ts.intersect(rts(HC.f),rts(Ta.f),rts(GR.f),rts(W.f))) Warning the csv file is 750kB. Can the same be done in R? Lots of love =) Louise

Greetings, first remarks about trying to do customizable drop-shadows
Hello there everybody! Terrific... a mailing-list for compiz with David on board! Ok, I started off with writing some functions using cairo to draw me the needed elements for drop-shadows (atm stand-alone to focus on the proper generation of the shadow-parts) and currently still fiddle with the tweakable parameters. Right now I have... shadow-radius (e.g. 20 pixels) 2D-offset vector (e.g. 10

USB-serial adapter for CentOS 7
I need to connect an older APS UPS unit to a machine running CentOS 7. Unfortunately the UPS only has a serial port whereas the computer does not. I am aware that there are USB-serial adapters but that the hardware or the drivers might fall short of expectations. Does anyone have positive experience with such an adapter? Or, conversely, would recommend avoid a particular adapter?

g-w-d.c -> my head spins
Greetings everybody! I started looking more thoroughly at gnome-window-decorator.c and now my head spins and "hurts" and believe that I'm not going to achieve anything serious in terms of tweakable shadows anytime soon. It's far more difficult than I expected. While I (believe) to understand now the shadows are drawn, I currently don't get why there are 12 shadow-quads and

Problems getting my wireles connection to work
I have an Everex laptop (ick, but it was super cheap) that has an Atheros wireless NIC in it, but I can't seem to get it to connect to my wireless in-home LAN. Here's what I've done so far (that isn't working) - any suggestions? [root at marktop mark]# lspci | grep Ether 00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc.
