Why this stupid ingress tc does not work ?
Hi ! I wanted to shape my analog modem connection so I took these two lines from the ''wondershaper'' script: tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress #tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip \ src 0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK} burst 10k drop flowid :1 with DEV=ppp0 and DOWNLINK=24kbit. But, when I activate it, nothing comes back from the

how flexible is ingress traffic policing to bandwidth limit?
[I sent this earlier but I guess the list is subscriber-only?] I just set up wondershaper, it has a simple filter on the downstream direction to limit the bandwidth usage: tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \ 0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 This is effective but is there any way to

Ingress rate
Hello I''m doing some qdisc programming and I want to get/read the current ingress rate from a kernel module I was wondering what is the most convenient of achieving this My idea is to load the ingress qdisc and the police filter if necessary. and modify the source to export a structure or function so I can read the ingress rate. How does this sound? Is there a simpler way? With

question about ingress police
Hi stef and all I want measure the policy perfomance for video traffic on mpls diffserv network. there are two different polices for video packet 1. Video packets that are marked that are over the limit are to be rejected at the edge router. 2. Video packets that are marked that are over the limit are to be downgraded as best effort and are sent through. Before video enter my mpls

Problems after Kernel upgrade to 2.6.10
Greetings, I have been reading the list for a little while now, but this is the first occasion I have had to post--of course, because of a problem. My problems began when I upgraded my RedHat 9 system to 2.6.10 from source. Aside from some other booting issues and things, all of which appear to be resolved, the only things NOT working are my scripts for traffic control. I get a whole host of

ingress policy filter for variable rate
Hi, I have a question about policy filters. All I want is incoming traffic being restricted to a specific rate. At the moment, I get way lower rates than specified. So far, I did use a filter much like Wondershaper does: tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 \ u32 match ip src 0.0.0.0/0 \ police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1

filter ingress policy rates by packet marks
Hello everyone ! I''m new to the list :-). So I''ll tell you: I''m Eduardo Robles Elvira aka Edulix, a young student from the south of Spain. I''ve developed a simple project for local pc bandwidth shaping called Edulix Shaper script [1]. It''s based on the Wondershaper. I have it mostly finnished and debugged; I have only a final problem: Is it

u32 and iptables do not work together
Hello all, I am trying to make a filter into my QoS rules and I founded that when I try to use filters u32 and with fwmark they do not work together. This is the filter I use, just and example, for u32: $TC filter add dev $DL parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 1 u32 match ip sport 22 0xffff flowid 1:10 This is working fine. Now if I try to mark a package that I want it to go to the same

tc/wondershaper and RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
Hi, I''ve been trying out the wondershaper script, but on several of the examples I keep getting the error message:- RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument On the following line:- tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \ 0.0.0.0/0 police rate 512kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 Based on other posts to this mail list, I gather it is an issue with kernel

ingress police, dns, fairness
I have done the "definitive test" in my adsl line, using a real computer: * Without incoming traffic management, my dns can take about 30s or more to resolve a domain (when it resolve, sometimes it doesn''t) when my adsl line is saturated. So the queue of my ISP doesn''t give preference to the dns (at the reverse, is it seems penalyzed), But doing 3 paralell ftps (and

WonderShaper on LAN link kills to-host speed
I tried installing the WonderShaper on my internal link, mostly to get the SFQ installed. I set uplink and downlink to 100000 to match the link speed and changed the bandwidth on the cbq line to 100mbit. This killed transfer speed *to* the box, knocking it from 30-40 Mbps down to about 800 kbps. Commenting out just the ingress control restored the speed. What about the ingress policer would do
