Audio Quality over LAN very bad
Hi All, I'm running Asterisk on the following vendor_id : GenuineIntel model name : Celeron (Coppermine) cpu MHz : 668.202 cache size : 128 KB with 192 MB Ram Audio coming from Asterisk (the demo ) is excellent when using a SIP phone on the LAN to Asterisk, and when dialling in from outside via ISDN to Asterisk. SIP echo on LAN
Good Morning, I have a weird situation, I'm testing with Xlite as SIP phone (is it any good ) and dialing an extension (also Xlite on same LAN) and I'm getting a real bad echo on the dialer's side and a not so bad one on the receivers side. Has anyone had something like this ? Aparently one should only get echo when you break out onto a telco network ? -------------- next part

Some questions remaining about TC
Hello everybody, I try to work with TC for a little while in my study and there still are a few questions that I can\''t find any answer anywhere. Firts about qdisc and classes: - What is exactly the difference between qdsic and class ? They are so \"intimately tied together\" that i\''m not sure not make the difference. Why can\''t we have a qdsic HTB with

Servers
Hey guys, Im interested in hearing about servers (and thier hardware specs) that successfully run both asterisk and samba for an office of maybe about 12 extensions (SIP) and about 12 workstations. Im hopeing to not only replace a traditional PBXs with Asterisk/Linux but to provide a solution to needs such as a file serving, email serving, etc. Ive read the Success stories form voip-info.org but

Insecure smbpasswd with ldap ??
hi there i have recently moved all users to LDAP and incorporated the Samba schema i have allocated servers read only access to the data except for what is required ie lmpass ... ntpass .. what disturbs me is that smbpasswd demands write access to uid, rid, primarygroup,cn,displayname i would rather it did not do this i fully understand why samba requires write access to other attr's in fact in

cat /etc/passwd > mksmbpasswd
Hi all, Quick question, is it possible to take an existing /etc/passwd file and run it through mksmbpasswd.sh (or some other script) to update a smbpasswd file? I am asking this because everytime we change a password or add or delete usernames on a machine, it would seem we have to do the same thing to change th samba password file, and I'm hopeing there is an easier way..... thanks, jeff

Silly questions due to ingrained knowledge of analog phone use.
Greetings all! I've got some really silly questions. I'm a technical guy, and I understand how the astrisk server works and how VOIP works, etc... The problem I have is that at my small company we have a phone system with analog lines and everyone here is comfortable with the concept of using them. I've never seen IP phones in action so I don't know how they work from a users

Does IPV6 support HTB?
I have been studying traffic control in linux these days. I became to know there are several qeueuing displines such as tbf, cbq, htp, etc. But, there isn't the comment whether they support IPv6 traffic. I got this question because there is no comment about how to connect qdisc classes with IPv6 flow using "tc filter" command, and I think the "tc filter" command

Controlling Outbound traffic...alternative to dsl_qos_queue
Hi , this probably was asked many times before , but here it goes.. Until now i was using dsl_qos_queue - http://www.sonicspike.net/software/ Which limits outbound traffic and does packet priorites with iptables using MARKed packets.. works very well , I run a ftpserver + webserver so it''s usefull to set these 2 with lowest priority and my multiplayer gaming running on certain UDP ports

is Prio-map really used in a CBQ without filter of filter mismatch?
Hi, all, according to the following HTML, http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.qdisc.classful.html section 9.5.3.1. PRIO parameters & usage: it says: "If you do not provide tc filters to classify traffic, the PRIO qdisc looks at the TC_PRIO priority to decide how to enqueue traffic." So my understanding is that the Priomap will be consulted to classify the packet. However, I see the

bandwith limiting and prio classes
Hello, I''d like to build a 4 class prio system based on mark (until now no problem), but with a limited bandwidth. I have configured my eth* to be 10mbit full duplex, and I''d like to limit the bandwidth to 1mbit. I managed to do it with a policy filter matching all the traffic, but I can redirect it into only one class, so all my prio classes are useless. I also tried to limit

I can see all the HTB stats but the prio classes just list as being there...would like more information Basically I have the following setup DSMARK | HTB - (tcindex filter on TOS) | Prio (u32 filter on TOS) Thanks Jon Flechsenhaar Boeing WNW Team Network Services
