HTB not obeying to specified rate?
here is the situation i am using htb.init with fwmark to do QoS. i have 2 parent classes with RATE=CEIL which then have some leafs each on his own. the first one works fine (it shapes the packets to the specified rate) class htb 1:21 root rate 1Mbit ceil 1Mbit burst 2909b cburst 2909b Sent 631520262 bytes 651550 pkts (dropped 0, overlimits 0) rate 131573bps 141pps lended: 380595 borrowed: 0

Traffic Shaping multiple incoming broadband sources?
Hi, complete newb and I apologise for it. I have a setup where my linux box has multiple broadband connection where I am routing certain things over certain interfaces, currently 2 links eth2 is a 1500/256 and eth3 is a 512/512, eth0 is the link to the LAN for users. What I am trying to do is traffic shape the information going out eth0 to the local users by the interface the traffic arrived

Re: Re: HTB 3.13 please help
//Just to not forget eth0 is WAN and eth1 is LAN . The box is NATing my lan. I configured tcng to shape both download and upload and i got connection loss again. Maybe it is my script fault or it is something bad with packets marking . this is how i mark outgoing packets iptables -t mangle -A MYSHAPER-OUT -p tcp -s 192.168.1.23 -j MARK --set-mark $ip and this part of my script which is intented

PLEASE HELP! SHAPING P2P STILL NOT WORKING
Hello, some days ago, I was asking for help here about not able to do anything when I had bittorrent running, I will post the problem here: I''m using ipp2p to mark p2p packets, and then send them with -j CLASSIFY to the correct HTB class, I see traffic in the class when I start azurerus, and traffic does get shaped, but then I''m still not able to surf the web nor chat nor

how much horsepower will i need for streaming?
hi! i'm putting together a streaming relay network for the linux audio developer's conference #2 (http://www.zkm.de/lad), and i was wondering how much cpu power will be required on the master server. we need to record 2 48k stereo signals simultaneously and encode them into three streams each: 2x 54kbit/s 22k05 mono 2x 112kbit/s 48k stereo 2x 192kbit/s 48k stereo it would be very

modprobe ifb
I''m trying to set up a traffic control on ingress attaching a egress qdisc to the ifb device. The idea is to use a RED algorithm instead of policing the incoming traffic. After trying with tc-red and not obtaining the expected results, I decided to try with something easier, and use htb as bottleneck: ifconfig ifb0 up tc qdisc del dev $dev ingress tc qdisc del dev ifb0 root tc qdisc add

What are the proper values for rate/ceil in tc ?
Hello! I am using shapping whith htb. My question is what are the propper values I can use in rate/ceil. I use htb.init for quick building of my classes/rules and have 2 groups of clients with 2 different bandwidth assignemet : A. 16--->48kbps B. 16---->128Kbps It seems to work everything OK, but can I use lower values for rate like 8Kbps ? What about using 32-->96Kbps? I let htb to

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi, I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link, therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs. This is what stats show: > class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

strange htb behaviour
Hello List, I use HTB in a ~80 users serving router with kernel 2.4.20. eth0 is the internet interface (half-duplex 1Mbit), eth1 the internal interface (100Mbit full duplex) cause of the fact that the router also serves as a http-proxy (squid) i thought setting up the default class on eth1 with the real upload-speed (100Mbit) would do the job, i.e. shaping normal stuff to 1Mbit except local

Problems with HTB. Help!
Hello list. I''ve configured a very simple script to slow down packets coming from a particular IP Address. I''ve used IPTABLES to mark traffic coming from this IP Address, but it does not appear to be working as expected. Let me first describe my system as maybe what I''m doing is beyond what NETFILTER can do. I have one machine that runs all my servers as

Latency/burst problem with HTB
Hi all :) I''m new to this list, as I''m new too to traffic shaping ;) I''ve set up an FTP server in my ADSL line and I wanted it to serve as fast as possible as long as I don''t use my outgoing ADSL bandwidth, and I''m currently using HTB for that (succesfully, I must add). The problem is (when the FTP server is serving higher than its

HTB & Bdw Guarantee
Hello, I have problems setting up HTB. This is my setup : NET 1024/256 ADSL || eth1 Linux Firewall eth0 || LAN 10.a.a.a I want to GUARANTEE for an IP (10.x.y.z) a 800kbit bandwidth for HTTP download. But When 10.x.y.z does no HTTP download, other trafic must get the whole bandwidth, of course. The script I use (see below) is quite the same as presented at (the greeeeat page) :

[Help] IMQ download traffic is duplicated !?
Hi, I have a default class for my un-marked traffic (prio 5) and a prio 0 class for the important stuff, but I do not understand why my download traffic is duplicated in both. It work fine for my upload traffic (same setting except the red class but I have the same result if I create an esfq instead). Any comments/information will be appreciated. Below my config : tc commands from my scirpt :

Create CD from avi files
I have avi files in xVid format from my Camera, and I want to create a Video CD that can be viewed on any CD player. I have searched through the various repos (including rpmforage and kbsingh) and did not find anything that would burn. I have a number of programs that have no trouble displaying these files. Including xzine, Avidemux, and VideoLAN-Client). I unfortunately have to make these

Runit
Hello Does anybody have any advice, or even some ready-made configuration, for running logcheck on svlogd log files? svlogd is the logging daemon provided by runit, a replacement for sysv init with service supervision. svlogd, and thus runit, are incompatibile with vanilla logcheck, because svlogd logfiles are rotated when they reach a certain size, not at a certain time. Therefore when logcheck

Wine doesn't load an application-provided DLL
I'm trying to get SfArk (http://melodymachine.com/) to work under Wine. Yes, there's a (proprietary) Linux version on the website, but it won't decompress some files, so I need to use the Windows version. The installer runs fine, but when it's time to load the program Wine complains about "lsunpa32.dll". Which I think is strange, since it's installed along with the
