Desktop Choice Centos 4/Centos 5 or Fedora 9
I have a choice of CentOS 4/5 and Fedora 9 on a laptop. I have not use CentOS 5 on a desktop but have used CentOS 4 and Fedora 9. I found the Fedora Gnome not as appealing as the CentOS 4 clearlooks. Any opinions from someone who has used CentOS 4/5 and Fedora? I'm not a KDE fan so KDE users need not reply. Regards, Vandaman.

List of html_options available
I''ve noticed lots of people online complain about not good documentation for Rails. I''m a PHP programmer but I''m a newbie on Rails. I''m creating a form with a drop-down menu. I finally got to do it. I noticed there is a html_options parameter for select. I was curious as to what other html_options are available but couldn''t find a list of options. I

html_options for select_date
As far as I can tell, it''s not possible to use html_options in conjunction with the select_* helpers. This means using them in conjunction with observe_field etc is pretty much impossible. Does anyone have a patch to add this functionality, or know of a workaround? I''m having a look at the moment, but not sure how to get it working without breaking existing stuff. --

Is there a list of html_options for the FormOptionsHelper?
I''m looking for a way to select a default value from a select box, like this: select("user", "role_id", Role.find_all.collect {|r| [ r.name, r.id ] }, { :default_value => ''5'' } (of course, there is no ":default_value") If the form is being used on a ''create'' page, it should display a default in the select box. link_to, how do you combine url options and html_options?
I have a link-to that I wish to look somewhat like this: link_to "link here", new_object_path, :method => :post, :confirm => ''Press OK'', #url options :class => "css_class", :id => "css_id" #html options In any case I can either get the url_for options to work or the html options to work, but

Add html_options to datetime_select?
Why can''t do so something like: :onfocus => "alert(''hey'');" For a datetime_select. I tried doing: :html => {:onfocus => "alert(''hey'')"} and :html_options => {:onfocus => "alert(''hey'')"} any ideas? Thanks. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Rails 4.0 Example app
Hi All, I have 30 years as a self employed software engineer and have been experimenting with rails for several years but !! I would have made considerably more progress and been able to give back to the community if only there was a demo application that was released with each new rails release. I am sure that it would take no more than 15 minutes of someone within the core team to produce

Escape sequences in html_options?
I hate asking questions like this, but I swear I''ve been looking for the answer for the better part of the morning. I want to execute some javascript onChange for a select box, so I have: :onchange=>"for (var x=1; x <= this.options.length; x++) {....}" The problem is that the <= is being translated into &lt;= and I don''t want that :-/. A rant about parameters
Guys, I''ve been chasing a problem with country_select for the past few hours now. My intention was pretty simple...use the following line in a form: <p><label for="country_region">Country</label> <%= f.country_select :country_region, "United States" %></p> However, for the life of me, I couldn''t get it to work. I kept getting

session[:return_to] for going back.
Hi, Is session[:return_to] something Rails maintains to quickly go back to the previous uri without having to keep track of the action name? Or, do we have to actually set it in our actions? select_month helper
I''m trying to rewrite a fusebox-like application (Active4D plugin to 4D database) in RoR/postgres and I''m doing okay - but keep running into things that stump me. It seems like it takes me hours to figure out something that I could have written in pure code in minutes. The select_month and select_day helper has been my latest waste of time. Integrate scruffy graph in rails view?
Hi everybody, I''m using scruffy to create some graphs, and would like to integrate them into a regular view (i.e. show them in an <img> tag). However, I get errors when using img_tag, or the image doesn''t load if I try saving the graph to disk and then loading them in html. Generating the graph and linking to it works, however then I only have the graph open in a new
