main adsl fail, backp and test
hi all,
I have a firewall with 2 gateways. Router A (main, adsl), router I
(backup, isdn).
In case of failure of adsl I switch to isdn. How can I know when it is
time to go back? Which is a standard way to test the adsl line?
TIA

tables and default
I already setup several 2 gateways boxes, with rules too decide which lan
should use which gateway.
Now I''m stuck with a simpler problem. At home I was just making some
experimental setup:
* 1 adsl (ppp0)
* 1 more tables in rt_tables (200 ping) called "bluff"
* table ''bluff *has not* a default route

routing pb? ping not "emerging"
Hi all,
i''m puzzled by a ploblem and I don''t know how to debug it...
I have a firewall with 2 gateways, adsl and isdn. Main gateway is via
adsl, backup via isdn. I setup 2 table ''adsl'' and ''isdn''. You can find a
description below.
I made a script to test both tables. That mainly

I made a script to test if in a moultiple gateway setup all default
connection are up, regardless of the fact that that gateway is the default
gw.
Suppose adsl1 and adsl2 are present, and all traffic goes by default to
adsl1, and you want to test if adsl2 is ok.
1. I use mangles from iptables to mark icmp packets to some test machines
2. I set up a routing table for each adsl
3. I use

Print properties are not saved
Hi,
I'm struggling to get a laser color printer working correctly. At first I
wasn't able to save print properties with Ubuntu 10.04. As I read of a bug
[1] that affected samba 3.4 up to 3.5.8 I upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 and samba
3.6.3. Now I'm not even able to upload drivers in the way I always did as
described in [2] and [3] (Italian).

(Trying) to understand Print properties saving
Hi,
some weeks ago I wrote to this list about a problem I have saving print
properties (samba 3.4.7 - ubuntu-lucid + XP-pro)
I never managed to solve it, I also tried with samba 3.6+ (Ubuntu precise)
but had aother problems I wrote about in this list ending opening a bug
[1].
Now I had to go back to my 3.4.7 installation. I'd like at least to bettere
understand how print properties work so

load balancing and failover
Hi,
A friend of mine has 2 lines of 512kbps terminated in two Linux boxes.
He now want to remove those 2 boxes and have some device which will
loadbalance the two ISPs and also have a failover arrangement. But he
has agreed to give me a chance to do it on Linux for my own
satisfication.
Is this easy to do with lartc? How do I go about it exactly? I have
very less time to do it since his

Route policy preference value
Assuming if I have rules matching the same packet,
the one chosen is the lower preference value or
the high ?
For example
# ip rule list
....
100 from 192.168.1.0/24 lookup main
200 from all fwmark 5 lookup first
.....
Packet is matching both rules, the one with priority/preference
100 or 200 is selected ?

Freebsd + NT/Nt-Client am Linux-Server
Pam_SMB allows Linux clients to validate
their passwords against an NT PDC, so the
only thing you have to do is set up the
accounts on the Linux side with an '*'
in the /etc/passwd entry. This can be
done using a list of users:
#!/bin/bash
for i in `cat myuserlist`; do
/usr/sbin/adduser -p '*' $i
with various other command line options,

Using samba as a PDC with win2k clients
Hello Samba users,
I'm trying to configure my samba server as a PDC for some Win2k
machines.
I'm running Red Hat 8.0 and samba-3.0.0rc4.
Everything seems to be ok, when using workgroup configuration, all the
shares works fine. But I cant get the Win2k clients to log in the
Domain.
It says I have a unknown user or an incorrect password. But at least it
prompted me for a user/password, so I
