Need the activerecord-sqlserver-adapter but...
Hi... I am new to RoR development, and Web development in general (but have about 25 years of IT/software experience - just not in the Web area)... I have a really good RoR 2.X book that I have read and reread a few times and starting to try to apply what I read... Have a Web app that I need to write at work, and prove to folks that RoR is THE_WAY, despite their ASP .NET protests otherwise... So,

Connectivity to Microsoft SQL Server using ADO

SqlServer Activerecord Adaptor + VARCHAR(MAX) Woes
I seem to be running into various issues between SqlServer and Rails, and so far have been able to solve everything save for a particular quirk when running unit tests. When I run "rake test:units" on my app, it gets so far as to run db:schema:load. I''m dealing with a legacy database, so it''s loading all sorts of tables that I don''t care about, but

[SPAM] Problem with scaffolding on test setup
Yet another newbie question here. My setup is thus: I have lighty running with scgi (working fine) on windows XP sp 2. Rails 1.1 and ruby 1.8.x. The server and scgi are working. I know this because I can get a test page to work easily enough. I did the following: ruby script\generate model Recipe [following the Rolling with Rails Tutorial] ruby script\generate controller Recipe I also

Setting up Ruby for use with MS SQL 2008
Hello there! I am pretty close to being able to develop in rails, but I keep running into a problem with my setup in connecting to my MS SQL database. When I try to navigate to my control page, I get the "..but something went wrong" page. In the dev log I get the following error: Unable to load driver ''ADO'' (underlying error: uninitialized constant DBI::DBD::ADO) I

activerecord-sqlserver adapter broken or worse
The activerecord-sqlserver-adapter gem is still sort of available via gems.rubyonrails.org, but it will not install on machines that have Rails 2.1 (or its version of ActiveSupport) installed. This has been confirmed with versions of rubygems through 1.2. This seems to indicate that Rails is no longer tested against the MSSQL adapter and that the adapter is also no longer tested against Rails

activerecord-odbc-adapter 2.0 failed to allocate memory
I''m currently trying to connect rails to a legacy SqlServer database. System is windows XP and my attempts to connect with activerecord sql adapter and ADO.rb file failed miserably (I wrote a mail about it before) So it seems like odbc adapter is more recent compared to sql adapter and probably more used. I''m using active_record_store as session store, and probably the first

Instiki and SQL Server??
Hello. I reeeeally want to get Instiki running at my day job, but they are Microsoft-heads. While I can probably sell them on trying Rails, they are definitely going to want the database to sit in our SQL Server instance with our other databases. I can''t get instiki to create the tables in sql server though (I''ve added ADO.rb, and gotten a connection). When I run the

Is RoR on SQLServer suitable for a commercial application?
Good Evening, I need some advice. I am in a position at work where I''ve got the boss pretty excited about rails. I think I could swing the Next Generation version of our product to use rails as the platform, but I find myself a little hesitant to do so until I''ve answered a few issues that I''m hoping people on this list could help me with. Firstly, we are tied to

SQLServer Timestamp parsing problem in sqlserver_adapter.rb
So, I''ve used Rails to tie into a legacy system which is on SQL Server 2000 with a required timestamp field, DBTimeStamp. The field is defined in SQL Server as type timestamp, but when rails is pulling it in, it appears it may be casting to a datetime format. So, when I try to read or write to the field, it gives me a parsing error: NoMethodError: private method
