File Upload Problems With Apache and Lighttpd But Not Webrick...
I am having trouble uploading files through a form when using Apache
(production) or Lighttpd (development). The odd thing is that when I force
script/server to load Webrick, the upload works just fine on the same
code-base.
When it fails, the upload just sits there forever. Some browsers eventually
return an error code, others spin for a long time... Anyway, it never
recovers.
The file is a

File upload works with webrick, but fails in lighttpd 1.4.11
I''ve been trying to add a basic file upload feature (just based on the
Rails Recipes example), but I find that it only works with the webrick
server and not my lighttpd 1.4.11 server.
I''m running Rails 1.1.2 on OSX. The upload silently fails with both
firefox and Safari, even with the useragent hack and with any size of
file/image. My lighttpd config is pretty standard as

Problem with IE forms over SSL: rails + lighttpd
If I submit a form with lots of checkboxes using IE, rails, lighttpd
(server on OSX Server, client on XP), then I get a "This page cannot be
displayed" message from IE after some delay and nothing shows up in the
rails or lighttpd logs. Cutting the number of checkboxes fixes the
problem. Safari works fine. I''ve googled for anwers and apparently
there is an upload problem

streaming upload progress plug-in
I''m working on new methods of doing Ajax calls through streaming
responses. I''ve created a little javascript library (which depends on
prototype.js) that can interpret a stream of JSON objects separated by
semicolons.
As an application of this, this Mongrel plug-in streams upload status
when given a qualified upload_id. It looks like this:

Lighttpd Conf Help - Multiple Domains Multiple Apps
Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help me out. I am trying to configure two
applications to run on lighttpd and each app will have its own domain.
My machine is running on Fedora. When I run my lighttpd with the
following conf file, I get no error but when I check out my app, it
dishes out a 404 error- the 404 being served isn''t the 404 inside the
railsapp/public folder.
Do hope someone

Problems with File_column
Hi,
Rails - newbie here..
I''m setting up an app and am trying to use file_column to upload a
picture with an item and I''m running into several problems.
(Background: I''m running Locomotive Rails under OS X 10.4.4, and using
Safari)
I followed the directions to add the necessary items, then found out
that I had to add the item to make the form tag be a multipart

Missing Content-Length header with lighttpd
We have our rails application running using lighttpd and everything
seems fine with Firefox, but when the client is Explorer some media
doesn''t get transferred from the server correctly. With Webrick,
Content-Length is set when a request is made for an mp3 file. Using
Firefox with lighttpd, Transfer-Encoding is set to chunked, so the
Content-Length field isn''t required.

Wrong Content-type in RJS with Gettext
Hello,
I am developing an application using Rails and doing l10n with
ruby-gettext.
When I deploy the app on lighttpd, every rjs template is rendered with
Content-type: text/html; charset: UTF-8. I believe it comes from 85th
line of
rails.rb script in ruby-gettext lib. RJS templates are not executed in
this situation.
Hovewer, when I run the app with Webrick, rjs templates are rendered

File upload - first works fine, subsequent fail
Hi,
I''m runing locomotive 2.0.7 with the RMagick bundle and file_column to
handle file uploads and resizes. The first upload works perfectly, and
the rest of the app continues to operate fine. If I go and try to add
another file (i.e. a new product), Safari just sits there. No log
messages anywhere, nothing.
Hit stop, restart the app with Locomotive and refresh to repost the data

upload file above /public, authenticate before serving?
I have file uploads to the database and stored in a longblob working on
our client extranet, except that it kills mysql/activeRecord on files
bigger than about 200kb. (is there a reason for this - running mysql
5.0.18, lighttpd or webrick on winxp??)
So I''m now thinking about whether its possible to do either:
1) upload a file into #rails_root/some_folder/ instead of

ror/lighttpd - HTML files via port 80 become application/octet-stream?
Hi everybody
I am trying to get RoR to work with lighttpd.
Nearly there, but I am stuck with a strange phenomenon.
If I configure lighttpd to serve pages on say port 2000, I can get at my
testapp fine and see the "Welcome aboard" page.
However, if I configure lighttpd to use port 80, I get a download prompt
from my browser.

I''m trying to implement the upload progress bar with lighttpd 1.4.11, and i''m
seeing various posts (linked below) indicating that lighty doesn''t support it.
sounds like they''re working on it, though.
anyone have any idea what the current status of this is? or if there''s a
workaround in the meanwhile?

script/server lighttpd on Windows
Has anyone been able to get script/server to successfully use lighttpd
on a Windows box? When I try to start the server I get:
PROBLEM: Lighttpd is not available on your system (or not in your path)
So then I add "C:\lighttpd\sbin" to the path for the console session,
and it still fails with the same error.
If anyone has some success with this I sure would like to know. Webrick
