Hi, I wanna use Rails on a SuSE server with apache. Everything should be installed correctly, but when running the application I get this in my apache log: FastCGI: comm with server "/srv/www/htdocs/web4/html/rails/public/dispatch.fcgi" aborted: idle timeout (60 sec) FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server

RoR still not working on SuSE 9.0 - incomplete headers received
Hi, I''ve already posted my problem a few weeks ago on several forums, or lists. I still have the same problem: I have a SuSE 9.0 machine, Apache 2.x, ruby 1.8.4 I wanna get RoR working with fastCGI. I have installed different versions of fastCGI, have checked the permissions of the fcgi-ipc directory, reinstalled everything and it still doesn''t work. In the browser window I

Dreamhost FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) errors
Sorry to trouble the list with another Dreamhost problem, but looking through the archives I see nothing that can solve my problem. I have installed my app as per http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Ruby_on_Rails#Quick_Start_Guide_August_2006 with a symbolic link from my_domain.tld in ~/ to ~/apps/residence/public/ I get the Rails welcome screen. I have uploaded my app directory etc, and

Rails+Apache 2+FastCGI on Fedora Core 3 Linux: Has anyone got it working well?
Hi All, I have a Rails application that needs to be served from a Fedora Core 3 Linux server. The application runs well as a "plain" CGI application. My next step was to speed things up with FastCGI installed via "gem install fcgi". (version 0.8.6.1). That approach lead to this error in the fastcgi.crash.log: Dispatcher failed to catch: undefined method

application failed to start for subdomain
I recently setup a subdomain to run my app as a staging site before pushing changes to the main site. So i setup a subdomain in cpanel, symlinked that the directory to point to a staging directory where i check''d out my rails app. However, when i go to staging.railsapp.com, it times out and says application failed to start properly. I''m not sure what is causing this, but

500 error while trying to run Camping on Dreamhost
I''ve tried setting up an Hello World app with Rails (no database), on a Dreamhost account. I used the configuration I found here http://www.mail-archive.com/camping-list at rubyforge.org/msg00114.html with the proper paths. But I keep getting Internal Server Errors (500). On the error.log I found this [Sun Jul 22 15:32:07 2007] [error] [client 82.154.48.138] FastCGI: comm with (dynamic)

Rails, FCGI, DreamHost, and endless frustrations
Hi all! I''m trying to deploy an application out to a subdomain at dreamhost. I am getting the dreaded "Rails application failed to start properly" error. The logs for my app are empty. In the DreamHost FTP app, when I look in the error.log file (I''m guessing this the Apache error log file) I see the following for each of my attempts: [Sun Jul 16 12:36:32 2006]

image uploads not working with lighttpd
Hi I thought it was time to test my app out on a real server. So i have installed lighttpd following the instruction on the rails wiki. everything seems to work fine except the file upload page. It doesn''t throw any errors, it just doesn''t seem to write the image to disk. Nothing is printed to the lighttpd error log when the file upload fails. I thought it might be my code

Apache config: Two different rails apps using same domain name (mod_rewrite issue)
The problem I''m solving here is that I have two different Rails applicatons that uses the same domain name. One handles the www (e.g. www.mycoolapp.com) and is used as the main site, and the other handles the user subdomains (e.g.. someuser.mycoolapp.com). The DNS stuff and the Apache virtual hosts were all set up, the two rails apps are in place in the file system, and the proper

Intermittent problem with link_to_remote()
Hi folks, My page displays links for ''categories'' using the link_to_remote() function. Clicking on one of these links goes to the controller and returns any child categories. I''m finding that the page works ok but after a number of clicks (average 5 or so), it crashes with an error: ============================================== Processing Base#index (for

apache2 fastcgi (fcgi) internal server errors, still :(
hi all, I can blab, but here is a sample of my /var/log/apache2/error.log, it has all the info: any ideas what I can do prevent 500s from hitting my users? (besides redirecting them with javascript to the same URL which will be fine on the next request? :) thanks, _alex [Fri Jun 24 12:30:45 2005] [error] [client 172.20.0.175] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from

Error in dispatch.fcgi...
Yesterday, our of nothing my server went down... Rails application failed to start properly Imediately i started checking my logs and found quickly that something was wrong with the dispatch.fcgi or its function. I use FCGI, and it had been working perfectly with Apache 2.0.55, MySQL 5.0, Ruby 1.8.2 and Rails 1.1.2. What really got me wondering was that I did nothing. One day it worked
