Rails Tagging Generator?
Hey all! Just finished my first Rails app on 1.0 day and even got paid
for it! Great stuff and much thanks to the many generous souls in IRC,
especially ezmobious, who helped me through.
For my second Rails app, I want to use tagging. I am wondering if
there is a Tagging Generator or some other existing implementation I
can borrow from?
Best,

Siegel-Tukey test for equal variability (code)
Hi, I recently ran into the problem that I needed a Siegel-Tukey test for
equal variability based on ranks. Maybe there is a package that has it
implemented, but I could not find it. So I programmed an R function to do
it. The Siegel-Tukey test requires to recode the ranks so that they express
variability rather than ascending order. This is essentially what the code
further below does. After the

Winbind oddness
Hi all,
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this, I am at my wits end
trying to figure this out. I have a centos 3.x system, fully updated.
Samba 3.0.9-1 installed and configured. net ads join'd to my brand new
win2k3 AD server. Up to yesterday everything was working fine. Now, I
can chown users but not groups ( which is a huge deal ), and I lose the
ability to do users

Winbind + ext3 ACLs
Hi folks,
For the longest time, I've had a problem changing or modifying ACLs from
my window clients. Whenever I tried, I'd get this in the logs:
[2004/07/29 12:36:26, 0] smbd/posix_acls.c:create_canon_ace_lists(823)
create_canon_ace_lists: unable to map SID

I could change the ACLs using getfacl/setfacl, btw.

meta-analysis in R
I would like to combine time-series data to test for correlations and
interactions using random and fixed effects meta-analysis.
So, I am looking for the right packages and documentation.
I know about meta and rmeta packages of R.
Are there any more? What are the diffrences in brief?
Can you please suggest some references that could be used as a guide for
meta-analysis in R (or S-plus)?

Installation of R in a Linux/Intel platform
I use R fluently with Windows98/NT. I have tried to install R
(R-base_0.64_2-2.i386.rpm) in a Linux/Intel platform (RedHat 6.0), but the
system signals the following message of error (gnomerpm): file not rpm.I
have tried, without success, to install R-base_0.64_2-2.src.rpm. Thanks for
the help.

Samba memory usage - how big is it?
Hi,
I'd upgraded samba to v3.0.32 last Sunday before our samba server started to
hang. Every day we have to restart our server 2-3 times (today I just
restart it once). I can see via System Monitor that 33 of our users each
(pid) consume 13.6Mb (average) of memory. Our server only have 1Gb of RAM
but usually it runs very well (except that we've already moved solidworks

nss_winbind / offline logon
Hello list users,
I have been struggling to make my AD integrated Debian Lenny box to work fluently also when network connectivity is down. What I would like to achieve:
1) When no network available, local user should still work normally
2) If possible, AD located users should still be able to login if they have previously logged in successfully (cached login)
Number 2 is more like optional,

Kenneth's Second Commit
I've fixed a heck of a lot of stuff in the time frame of just over ten minutes.
And you all care... right.
I actually ran Vorbize, and discovered some stupid bugs (e.g., segfault???).
Fixed.
Both Vorbize and Ogg123 should now speak fluently in Monty's comment-eese.
I'll be working on getting both to implement all the comment tags; I'm
seriously considering dropping all comment
