HTB - prio and rate
Hi all, I''ve not been able to find an explanation of the relationship between prio and rate as they apply to the HTB technique. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me. As I understand things, when prio values are assigned to an HTB setup, classes with a given prio value will only be serviced when there are no packets waiting in classes with a lower prio value. Now, does

exact rate
Hello I am using htb (krenel 2.6.14.3 + esfq patch from fatooh.org) to limit the bandwidth. But I want the absolute maximum rate to be for example 5Mbit and not to exceed it. here is the script: $tc qdisc add dev ${NETIF} root handle 1 htb r2q 4 $tc class add dev ${NETIF} parent 1: classid 1:21 htb rate 5Mbit ceil 5Mbit $tc class add dev ${NETIF} parent 1:21 classid 1:101 htb rate 2Mbit ceil

Re:Does HTB consider PRIO or not? 2
Thanks for quick reply Andreas! > Every class is allowed to use bandwidth as long as it does not have to > borrow (the specified rate is guaranteed). Prio in HTB only affects > borrowing bandwidth from other classes... In the example below, the class > 1:5 should be allowed to borrow bandwidth before 1:14 does. Thats exactly what I want from HTB to do..to prio the borrowed bandwidth.

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello, after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new post. I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics data... BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour: I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link capacity. If I set both RATE

What is the reccomended minimum rate for leaf htb class for accurate operation?
Hi, I''m trying to setup QoS in my TSL box. Following to mailing list reccomendations I changed PSCHED_CPU but can''t get accurate shaping with HTB. I have disabled HYSTERESIS also (by setting it to 0). I have Intel Celeron 1.8Mhz (TSC supported I think). ******** My script ****** tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 22 r2q 10 # Class corresponding interface

HTB shaping & borrowing info
Hello to everybody, We want integrate in a router/firewall (Debian Based, 2.6 Kernel), an HTB shaper. The goal is to divide the traffic for classes of workstations, at example in three classes, let say A, B and C. Example: A 70 Mb/s B 20 Mb/s C 10 Mb/s If B don''t make traffic, 7/8 of 20Mb/s must be assigned to A and all the rest at B We have used CBQ and HTB, with poor succes. Anybody

Cannot get htb & prio working together.
Hi, I''ve failed miserably in my endeavours so far and I''m at the point where help would be much appreciated. I want to have 3 bandwidth limited classes on my Internet interface. In each of those classes I want 3 prioritization bands, and then use "tc filters" to place the traffic into the correct class and priority. The problem is that the traffic

2.6.14 - HTB/SFQ QoS broken?
Hello, First of all, I already contacted Martin Devera, the developer of HTB, and he told me to search for help on this mailinglist, thus I am describing my problems here now... I am kind of seriously annoyed by QoS as I have been trying for over 3 years to get it working properly - first I did not understand how it works, then it seemed not to work, then it was working perfectly for half a

Does HTB consider PRIO or not?
Hello LARTC!!!! There is a question that kills me everytime I think about it. I just love HTB and for one year since I started to work wih it I had no complains until one day. One client needs to allocate the shared bandwith , based on priorities. The HTB as everybody knows have the CEIL parameter and also PRIO which are supposed to solve the problem. Now the problem: I configure everything, rate

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi, I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link, therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs. This is what stats show: > class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

Andreas, Since I understand your ASCII art and comments, I would very much appreciate it if you would draw what you see and criticize the following. Hopefully I''ll better understand after that! Borrowing between HTB classes not working as expectd.
I''m using a fairly large number of classes, andf borrowing is not working as expected... I''ve called this setting it up on an IMQ device with speed 1200/256 on a 1536/384 line. I''m then throwing a UDP data transfer at it that gets tossed in one of the class under parent 1:6. The classification is working fine, but when I try to ping out, ping times are in the 900ms

HTB: far unequal behaivor at a slight conf rate change
Hi all! I''m working in a " _really_ end user simple", yet powerfull, flexible, scalable, GPL htb/htb-init front end, but now, in the "test fase" im facing an utlimate problem... HTB Rate and Prio
Hi, I wanted to implement some QOS on my Linux Box with HTB, but after some time spend on the configuration and tests, I still don''t manage to have some correct results. Here are the details : -ROOT 2000 kbits -HIGHPRIO SUBCLASS 50 kbits prio 0 -SUBCLASS1 750 kbits prio 1 -SERVICE1 250 kbits prio 1

Is this possible?
I am trying to do ingress flow control with htb + imq, and as could be expected it isn''t working well. It works a lot better when I keep the htb ceiling well below what the link can actually carry - I guess because htb gets to throttle the TCP fast start before it causes packets to be dropped. The only problem is wasting all that bandwidth hurts. It occurred to me that the bandwidth

htb + tc filter
Hi everybody, i am new to this list so dont blame me if i will talk about nothing.. At this moment i am experimenting with htb + tc u32 filters , the problem is that i want some traffic to be unshaped so i did this.. tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 10: htb default 20 tc class add dev eth0 parent 10: classid 10:2 htb rate 256Kbit THIS IS TRAFFIC I WANT NOT TO BE SHAPED tc filter add dev eth0

Can anyone fix this?
Hi, I appologise for the bad ettiquite of this, but I have tried looking for some HTB examples that would help me, and am having trouble understanding how the tc filters should work, but I can''t figure out why this isn''t working. I''ve written this script, based upon the ultimate traffic shaper at LARTC, to try and shape for me and my 3 housemates. The idea being to

PRIO on non-leaf classes?
Hello, I''m using HTB and would like to ask is it correct to put "PRIO" on non-leaf classes ? I know that on leaf classes it''s correct and determines how the excess bandwidth is distributed among non-leaf classes. Thanks Nikolay G.K
