pps limit ?
Hello, list members, can i limit pps rate with linux? How? -m limit does not fit, as i understood: it can help with low rates only (is that true? any suggestions?) Thank you, -- _,-=._ /|_/| `-.} `=._,.-=-._., @ @._, `._ _,-. ) _,.-'' ` G.m-"^m`m'' Dmytro O. Redchuk

Simple shaping question
I have linux box (does nat and firewall for small network) connected to dsl. I want to set priorities for protocols (that nothing could disturb web browsing). This is my rules (eth0 connected to internet): /sbin/tc qdisc del dev eth0 root /sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1 htb default 30 r2q 100 /sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:2 htb rate 900Kbit burst 15k /sbin/tc class

maximum class
Hi, currently I''m using 48 class with htb & very stable Is there any maximum number of class I can create in a single linux box ? I need 500 or even 1000 class for campuss network. Any help appreciated thanks & regards Tino _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lartc

u32 match versus iptables CLASSIFY target - performance
hello, i have a question: - which one is faster: "tc filter with u32 match per dst ip" or "iptables match per dst ip with target CLASSIFY"? - this question is for large rulesets (over 500) thank you, cristian carstea

py-htbstat
Hi all, updated py-htbstat: http://www2.ldc.net/~dor/py-htbstat/ Some screenshots: http://www2.ldc.net/~dor/py-htbstat/shots/shots.html It''s now possible to use classids in form ''xxxx:xxxx'' now (actually i dont know why i''ve made it to use ''1:xxxx'' only :-) -- _,-=._ /|_/| `-.} `=._,.-=-._., @ @._, `._ _,-.

wanted A tool to measure bandwidth....
Hello Everybody, I have configured a Linux box that does traffic shaping. Its working wonderfully fine, just as expected...Now i want to measure the bandwidth consumed by each of my hosts....But I dont want SNMP to run on all the hosts[as required by MRTG] I used iptraf on my linux box, but it only measures the bandwidth on interface basis only.... I tried installing traffic-vis, its not working

filter performance/optimization questions
hi i''m using htb + u32 filters, and i was wondering if there is something one can optimize at this stage. i have a lot of filters (~ 50.000 / interface, and there are two interfaces), and around 4500 classes / interface. the traffic going through this machine is something around 210-230mbit/s at 50kpps. as you can imagine, the load is pretty high. in fact (as it''s a dual xeon at

Is this possible?
I am trying to do ingress flow control with htb + imq, and as could be expected it isn''t working well. It works a lot better when I keep the htb ceiling well below what the link can actually carry - I guess because htb gets to throttle the TCP fast start before it causes packets to be dropped. The only problem is wasting all that bandwidth hurts. It occurred to me that the bandwidth

What is the reccomended minimum rate for leaf htb class for accurate operation?
Hi, I''m trying to setup QoS in my TSL box. Following to mailing list reccomendations I changed PSCHED_CPU but can''t get accurate shaping with HTB. I have disabled HYSTERESIS also (by setting it to 0). I have Intel Celeron 1.8Mhz (TSC supported I think). ******** My script ****** tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 22 r2q 10 # Class corresponding interface

tc filter priority
hi all friends has tc filter an priority of rules , like iptables, let me explain it : with iptables, when the packet find a rule to go, it doesnt see the rest of rules, and how is the behavior of tc filter ?? see it : one packet from 10.10.10.1:2421 going to 11.11.11.1:110 what rule above it will be shaped ?? 1 ) tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip parent 1:0 prio 1 u32 match ip src

tc class class id problem Limitation
Hello, I have been working on tc class . But when the classid reaches 5 digit , it DOES NOT ACCEPT THAT ... see the example below :: tc class add dev eth0 parent 10:36 classid 10:13310 cbq bandwidth 10Mbit rate 32Kbit allot 1514 weight 3.2Kbit prio 5 maxburst 20 avpkt 1000 bounded See the bold digit !! this command doesn''t work , but if i use with 4 digit then it works : tc class

Cannot get htb & prio working together.
Hi, I''ve failed miserably in my endeavours so far and I''m at the point where help would be much appreciated. I want to have 3 bandwidth limited classes on my Internet interface. In each of those classes I want 3 prioritization bands, and then use "tc filters" to place the traffic into the correct class and priority. The problem is that the traffic

Not routing for 1 host?
Hi, I want to stop routing for 1 particular host in my network. I thought that this would do it: iptables -D INPUT -d aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd -j DROP iptables -D INPUT -s aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd -j DROP But that still shows traffic. What is the corract way to do that? HTB - prio and rate
Hi all, I''ve not been able to find an explanation of the relationship between prio and rate as they apply to the HTB technique. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me. As I understand things, when prio values are assigned to an HTB setup, classes with a given prio value will only be serviced when there are no packets waiting in classes with a lower prio value. Now, does

how can I monitor a (dumb) switch ?
Hello there, Can anyone help me with a problem i have.... I have an ethernet LAN, made over dumb fast-ethernet switches (10/100mbit) without management, so there is no IP for the switches. What I want, if possible, is to find out if a switch is down or not. It''s like with routers... if you want to find out if a router is OK, either you send ICMP directly to the router, or to a host

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi, I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link, therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs. This is what stats show: > class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello, after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new post. I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics data... BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour: I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link capacity. If I set both RATE
