Seeing two networks with Samba
Hi there,
I'm in our dorms at the university, and throughout the dorms we've got a
large windows network with shares on everyone's computer and things. (dorm
network) Inside our dorm, however, we've got a linux box doing ip
masquerading for an internal network. The linux box has 2 ethernet cards,
one which talks to the internal network and one which talks to the dorm

Correlation based on the attributes of vertices
Dear all,
I have a directed graph - an Igraph to be more precise - which has some
vertices attributes (like dorm, year etc). Edges and the graph itself do not
have any attributes. Based on the attributes of the vertices, I'd like to
calculate correlation among the edges (e.g. how likely people of the same
dorm are connected?) for the whole graph. Also, I'd like to calculate

browsing, subnets, across, workgroups
Why does browsing across subnets only work if all of the machines are in
the same workgroup?
We're really a unix and mac campus, but we're trying to support windows
machines by using a samba server to let them print and let the students
access a little chunk of disk space.
I've got a samba server set up as the workgroup SERVERS, and I've told it
to be a domain master, a

rsync: network "bind interfaces only" command for rsync?
Hi,
Is there a network interface listen command for rsync
so that for a system with multiple network cards and
multiple IP addresses - rsync will only be visible
on a defined interface and defined IPs?
Like in samba?:
e.g.,
bind interfaces only = True
interfaces = eth0 193.xy.zz.aa 193.xy.zz.ab
Can't seem to find such a thing in the documentation.
Cheers,
Lachlan.

Rsync and trying to mirror Linux user areas
As root, I am trying to mirror a Redhat 7.3 Linux user area
onto another Redhat 7.3 Linux box using rsync. This is using
the following type of command:
rsync -a -v --stats --safe-links
However, rsync cannot mirror most of the user area because
of the default permissions for the user areas.
e.g.,
opendir(user1): Permission denied
opendir(user2): Permission denied
drwx------ 3 user1

Rsync and "ignore nonreadable" and timeout
Hi,
Can anyone send me an example config file that makes use of
ignore nonreadable
timeout 600
When I try to put this in a module - rsync seems happy but it
gets nasty logfile messages when a client connects to
the server.

How to stop winbindd from granitng UID=0? Security hole?
I have domain controller on Windows 2003.
On the client side standard installation of samba 3.0.1? ldap,
kerberos and winbindd.
Setup should allow all users from domain login to all client's
services (console, ssh and so on) using domain name and password. Ok,
we have acquired this point.
It aslo should be possible to login simply by writing "Login:
MyDomainUsername", but with

RSYNC: Any Idiots guides out there
There is a rather rambling tutorial at:
http://www.ccp14.ac.uk/ccp14admin/rsync/
(this does not have ssh tunnelling in there)
Though for the following - if the files are owned by root - root
will be the only one able to rsync them across?
Maybe creating a special account with some extra file
privaledges but not 100% root could get the job done for
you?

Rsync Re: Trailing /
What should be the official behaviour here?
I must admit some of my scripts probably have both
trailing and non-trailing "/". But just played around
until it was mirroring into the correct directory.

Soooo,north face winter coats
this <a href="http://www.wintercoats2010.com/north-face-jackets.htm" title="north face winter coats"><strong>north face winter coats</strong></a> is great. I took it on a backpacking trip the first time that I used it and not only was it lightweight, it was effective in blocking wind and keeping me warm during the cooler early morning and early evening

Centos 5.7--desktop icons are now a blank sheet of paper with the .desktop filename and they don't work
Just rebooted my box (switched keyboards, and since it's a PS/2 keyboard,
it needs to be done at poweroff) and when it came back up, (almost) all
the desktop icons I've created (as distinct from the ones that came with
the system) now don't display correctly.
Instead of the graphic assigned to each, it's just a picture of a blank
sheet of paper with the corner folded over, and the

3.0beta3 ACL show no groups
With Samba 3.0 in PDC mode, I see no groups in the "Add..." windows under
windows 2000 security dialog.
The users are present, but no groups are listed.
Samba 2.2.8 would display Unix groups (in fact it would display them all.)
I can't find any information as to whether or not the smbgroups is what I
need to use.
Am I missing something simple?

FLAC 1.0.5 beta1 released
I have an Athlon Thunderbird 1Ghz sitting running all alone in my dorm
room while I'm at home for six weeks. I figure I'll run these tests just
to give the poor machine something to do.
Seeing as 3DNow! extensions seem to enabled by default, I'll give them a
whir. I'm running Debian unstable's latest GCC 3.2 prerelease as its compiler.

Hello
Hello, everyone. Please forgive any rambling tone in this message, as it is
late and I am tired.
I'm parachuting in here as a long time user of the wonderful Icecast server.
My programming skills and random walk of life have progressed to the point
where I've created an Icecast-compatible HE-AAC+ source for OS X. All of
these years I've been a Winamp man, and have made limited
