login sugar generator
After being frustrated (yet again) last week when attempting to use the salted_login_generator in a new rails project, I have modified it so that it works better for my needs. Since the SaltedHashLoginGenerator wiki page seems to indicate many people are frustrated by this package which is very nice but has been broken since rails 1.1.4 I think, I have gem-ified my version of the generator and

Salted hash login generator (verification problem?)
Hi all, I hope someone can help with what is probably a simple newb installation mistake on my part. I''m having a couple of problems with the salted hash login generator. I installed it following the quickstart guide, and the unit tests work like a charm. There are two errors and a failure on the function tests, though; the verified field seems to be involved in at least one of

Test driving Facebooker with Rspec?
I''ve been spiking on a Facebook application so far just to learn the Facebook(er) API, but I''d prefer to test drive. It seems to me (with my limited knowledge) that what''s needed is some sort of mocking framework at the network level. I''m thinking of creating a set of YAML files similar to fixtures that represent the remote Facebook state, then overriding

My database model''s connection appears messed up.
I am trying to add data from a form, and the rails doesn''t appear to be making any effort at all. I''ve put deliberately erroneous data, but still nothing. All the development log shows is this. This is the code in use - based on the example from Rails book def add_customer_admin if request.get? @login = CustomerAdmin.new else @login =

actionmailer the background
I have bdrb successfully set up and running in a local project. It''s doing two things: 1) processing large csv files and using ActiveRecord to insert 2) sending large batches of emails using ActionMailer In development both work well. I see my ActionMailer emails in the log (though it''s the development.log -- odd?) On the production server csv processing works well, but

Thanks Rowland - appreciated. I have checked the ldbsearch result and both groups look to be pretty much exactly the same to me, one of them is shown below (I have sanitised some of the output, replacing parts with 123/a/b/c, but the rest of the output is byte for byte as seen) In the time between posting my original message and checking again just now, however, I have the following additional
