Hi guys, I want to have a file upload form which would allow the user to ask for certain transformations of the image before saving it - most importantly, to resize it. Now, how can I make an instance of FileColumn enabled model process these imagemagick instructions? Using ImageMagick with Locomotive
Hi, I''m trying to use the routines on this page: <http://addictedtonew.com/archives/127/rotating-images-with-rmagick-and-ruby-on-rails/> to try and rotate some images. I tried using the script/console to do some testing, - I know ImageMagick is working, as I''m using the filecolumn plugin to resize images as they are loaded. When I try, using the console, to rotate an

FileColumn - version and not image files
Hi I have this filecolumn: file_column :file, :magick => { :versions => { :large => ''756x567>'' } } Does anybody have a solution to make this also accept files that aren''t images? Now this makes filecolumn return an error of "File invalid image" if the file isn''t an image. Would be nice if it, when the file is invalid image, just

I need a way to upload an image and display it without using any of the plugins that use rmagic. Serve an image up from an action
What I am really trying to do is use the file_column plugin for the file uplaod/storage (to a non-application directory), but serve up the images on my own (without the mage_tag url_for_file_column technique) In the java world, I would simply do something like this: <img src="myImageServlet?id=1"> and myImageServlet would simply return the appropriate mime headers and data

Depot App: Upload Images
Hello, I''m a newbie to Ruby on Rails and like many others, I have been working through the depot application in the Agile Web Development book. I was wondering if anyone had enhanced the depot application to include the upload of images for each product? The following describes the sort of thing that I have been asked to produce for a client, so apologies if the information is not

Dynamic file paths in FileColumn
I have a file uploader application in ROR using the very nice FileColumn plugin. In looking at the source code I can see that there is a DEFAULT_OPTION hash with some root path options and such which can be merged from an options paramater. These static path changes are not a problem. My question is dynamic path options. My upload form, when you boil it down, has two fields. The first is

Paperclip upload fails sometimes
Hello, My application is a rails-postgresql application which uses paperclip ("ImageMagick-6.5.4-10-Q16-windows-dll.exe" installed on WinXP). Best way to upload an image and make a thumbnail
Hi, which is the best way to upload an image, keep that and also make a thumbnail? The images should not be stored in the database, but as normal image files in a specific directory. I think that for the thumbnail i should use rmagick, but for the upload ? (something which work with and without javascript, in every browser) Thanks :) -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

file_column Trying to Create Thumbnails of Non-Image Files??
Howdy. We use the handy file_column plug-in in some of our apps. We have a model with a file field and we upload both images and non-images into this field. It is specified as follows: file_column :file_uri, :magick => {:versions => {:thumbnail => {:size => ''200x''}}} Well, it works great for images but for non-images, the save fails. The root cause is an

Newbie: Can''t get file to upload
Since I can''t get the fancy upload progress thing to work, I thought that I would revert back to a regular file upload scenario. I have a very simple file upload form set up. It appears that my file parameter is coming into the controller as a string, not a file object. Here''s my view: <%= form_tag :action => ''save_HTML'', :multipart

Download an Image using Net::HTTP
Hi, I need to download an image, and I''ve mucked about with Net::HTTP resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(''www.mydomain.com'', ''/test.jpg'') f = File.new("test.jpg","w") f.write(response.body) And various other combinations using HTTP.get etc. Anyway, I get an image, but it looks very psychedelic. This is obviously not the correct way.

Newbie Question about Ruby on rails---cant upload data
