caches_page :if not executing (but caches_action :if) does
Hi folks - Seeing a weird problem and would love some help. It''s documented in http://pastie.org/278310 to be more readable. In short, I have a caches_page "action", :if => {stuff} but the :if is never being called - the action is just caching every time. (If I put a debugger call in the :if block, it never stops.) If I replace caches_page with caches_action, the if

caches_action :index for site root gets propagated to lower levels (how to stop?)
Hello all, I am running a blog system which has its "/" (home page) cached like this: class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base before_filter :index_cache_expirer, :only => [:index] caches_action :index so the site''s top page is caches for 60 seconds in my case (index_cache_expirer is a home-made function to expire) on the site, there is also a

Using caches_action ?
Hi When I enable action caching in my controller with caches_action :view_thread only the first part of my layout template is rendered (up to the yield statement), and the development.log shows Processing ForumController#view_thread (for 127.0.0.1 at 2006-05-31 03:13:19) [GET] Session ID: d6f7ef15f479250fd7e31e252d70f5ff Parameters: {"action"=>"view_thread",

caches_action does not go off the entire URL
I am trying to use caches_action and the agile book says that it is keyed off the URL, however it does not seem to pick up the URL parameters. http://localhost:3000/controller/action/id?foo=bar and http://localhost:3000/controller/action/id?foo=foobar Returns the same page. Anyone looked into how to add URL parameters to the cached key? Also, where do those file get stored? Thanks Dave

Send parameter along with method in before_filter
Hello list, I have an app that has a very simple authorization scheme. A person can have many roles and roles can have many people. In my app, I''d like to do before_filter :login_required (since no role name is provided, it accepts any users with credentials) before_filter :login_required ("administrator") (only accepts those with role administrator) before_filter

before_filter chains and halting at an arbitrary filter
Hi--I''m trying to implement a 2-level authentication system, where I have one before_filter which does general user authentication, and another which does further authorization for a specific controller. I have it set up as follows: before_filter :authorize_level_2 prepend_before_filter :authorize_level_1 which causes authorize_level_1() to run, and then authorize_level_2().

Fragment Cache Wackiness
I can''t seem to get the fragment cache to use :file_store. I''d really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Rails 1.1 final, FreeBSD Observe: In environment.rb AND production.rb (for good measure, DRY be damned): ActionController::Base.fragment_cache_store = :file_store, "/www/apps/localfeeds/directory/tmp/fragmentcache/" At the console

adding a before_filter to static content
Hi, I have a Rails site that uses a before_filter in the application controller that does some authentication and authorization work. I also have a bunch of HTML in folders in the application''s public directory. Before a user can view anything in the public directory, I''d like to authenticate them. How could I do that? I''m using mongrel, if it matters. Thanks, Joe

before_filter and the application controller
Hi there, I''m having a bit of an issue with my before_filter. I know that the filters put in the application.rb controller are global for all the controllers. In my application filter I''d like to allow access to the RSS feed method in a ''member'' controller and skip the login checks that the before_filters are currently performing. In my application my filters

before_filter question
Let''s say I''m using before_filter in my controller: before_filter :setup def setup # do something here end Is there any way my setup method can know which action is really about to be called? Let''s say I want to log out which action is going to be called, how can I know that in the before_filter method? (My question is not really about logging,

I leave a notice in the flash and do a redirect from a before_filter. Can someone confirm that the first request after this, i.e. the page I redirect to, doesn''t/isn''t supposed to clear the flash? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/flash%2C-before_filter-and-redirect_to-t1367103.html#a3665933 Sent from the RubyOnRails Users forum at Nabble.com.

strange before_filter error. is this a bug i have found?
... before_filter :find_regression_test def find_regression_test @regression_test=RegressionTest.find(8) end .... The above seems like perfectly normal before_filter syntax, but it gives this error. Aldo is no application trace, just a framework trace: Any idea what is wrong? NoMethodError in Regression testsController#modify_regression_test private method `equal?''
