Newbie STILL trying to limit bandwidth - is this script wrong?
My previous message (http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2004q2/012285.html) didn''t generate any replies, so I thought I''d try posting what I''ve done trying to solve my own problem, in hopes that someone will take pity and show me if/where I''m going wrong. Just to recap, I''m trying to accomplish this on my server, which streams RealAudio files

Simple HTB setup with tcng
Hello all, I am trying to set up a simple htb based system, where packets with source ip 10.0.0.1 should have their own class. I plan to use tcng to set it up easier. Is there something wrong in my tcng file ? ~/tcng$ cat htb /* */ #include "fields.tc" #include "ports.tc" dev eth0 { htb ( ) { class ( rate 600kbps, ceil 600kbps ) {

tc script stopped working
I''ve used tc in the past for shaping, upon learning of tcng, I redid my config, and load it using tcc. I thought this was great, as the new script is much easier to maintain, and is so much simpler. The new script was working for about a week, then it stopped working. I now get this error: can''t dump subexpression (if_u32.c, unsupported offset sequence - please try to reorder

FYI, i''ve just created a quick patch adding esfq (Enhanced Stochastic Fairness queueing discipline) for tcng (Traffic Control Next Generation). Patch is located at http://devel.dob.sk/tcng+esfq. Enjoy. Sam

PPPoE and shaping
Hi all, I have a little problem with my home-made slackware linux server. Here is the scenario: 1. I have a local wifi network 2. my server do masquerading and exit in internet via a PPPoE connection Goals: 1. not use SQUID 2. shaping the traffic with classes 3. emule connection must have minimum priority and a band-limit of 10KBytes/s in uplink (server--->internet) Any idea? Thx, Diego --

TCNG HTB Branching the class not working. (bug or what)
Hi, I am new to traffic control in linux. However, i have able to grab many new knowledge in recent days. I find tcng somewhat easy to use (although lack proper doc. of its usage). I want to control traffic of several IP Addresses connected to my LANSIDE. What I want is , i want to separate certain bandwidth to all my clients. dev "etho" { htb() { class ( rate 400kbps, ceil

tcng TCP ACK match
Hello. I have been trying to duplicate these u32 matching rules using TCNG, but without much success: tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip parent 1:0 prio 1 u32\ match ip protocol 6 0xff \ match u8 0x05 0x0f at 0 \ match u16 0x0000 0xffc0 at 2 \ match u8 0x10 0xff at 33 \ flowid 1:10 Wondershaper 1.1a implements this and if I run it things seem to be shaped as expected. But this TCNG

newbie: TC[NG] with (256kbit/s down and 768kbit/s up) on a router
Hi all, this is really not really very easy to understand, or, to get in. Well, I''ve the following configuration on the router box: LAN - interface: eth0 - network: 192.168.2.5/24 - bandwidth: 100Mbit/s INET interface - interface: ppp0 - network: .dynamic.ip./0 - bandwidth: DOWN=1536kbit/s and UP=256kbit/s the LAN interface is to serve 6 other clients with internet and

NAT & tc filter addresses
Is there a flow diagram as to where tc actions take place with respect to NAT and other iptables functions on a multihomed box (private & public NICs) ? Are tc filter rules consulted before or after NATing? My real interest is in basic understanding first, and then solving a real problem second. Example: Firewall Public NIC 123.123.123.1 Firewall Private NIC 192.168.168.1 Dedicated Video

TC-ng questions/problems
Hi all, We have 2 class C networks that are connected by a Linux router with the internet. We want to apply traffic control (bandwidth control). For that we wrote the tcc script below. We have 2 problems: 1. To establish a 2 megagit download we must actually set the value to 2500kbps. Is there a possible reason for that? 2. If we enable the WAN device we get very hight ping times (they change

[tcng] More complex example?
Hi I''m completely stuck with the tcng language - I assume there must be some way to arrange queues hierachically like eth1 | TBF | PRIO / \ class class but my attempt (below) produces a "inferno.tc:8: qdisc "tbf" has no classes near "prio"" when run through tcc. dev eth1 { egress { tbf (rate 128kbps, burst 64kb,

tncg and bandwidth limiting
I''m trying to do some very simple rate-shaping on an interface. I want to limit my 100baseT interface to 7 megs both ingress and egress of the interface. I''ve been hacking my way through the documentation and some examples and I''ve come up with the following configuration for tcng that seems to do what I want. I''m curious if some of the other experts out

Question about TCNG
Hello, after compiling my tcng rules, I''ve noticed something weird, the tc filter rules it returns give a flowid differente than the classes it creates, for example, you have a class 2:3 and had defined some conditions, (eg. some ports) to go into that class, but when I compile the .tcc file it returns something like: tc filter add dev eth1 parent 1:0 protocol all prio 1 u32 match u8

Are tcng changes permanent? How to reset them?
I''m running a Redhat 9.0 bridge and got tcng kind of working before discovering a nice example in the LARTC HOWTO (http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.cookbook.fullnat.intro.html). How do I clear out the settings made by the tcc-generated sh script? TIA -Ron

P2P shaping, won''t work
Hello, its me again, I won''t stop sending emails to this list, until I solve this problem, I''ve tried several apps to create the right htb rules (even made them my self), but I always get the same results, traffic gets shaped, but I can''t use my bandwidth, and this is weird, because I should be able to, also I keep seeing download being limited too, and that

simple TOS based setup vs more complex ones
Hi, After reading section 9 of LARTC it seemed to me that a pure TOS based QoS setup with be sufficient for a small newtork. Interactive packets could have the highest priority, second highest for DNS and small HTTP packets and lowest prio for all others. The advantage is that, the setup would be simply a couple of iptables lines, because the default pfifo_fast qdisc already implements

tcng ingress policing question
Hi all I started playing with tcng to generate my tc rules, but I have some difficulty implementing my rules... The script below generates an error: # Device eth0 tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress beginner.tc:2: don''t know how to build meter for this The script is below, I changed the real IP numbers for XXs and YYs, since it doesn''t really matter what they are. eth0 is the
