HTB shaping & borrowing info
Hello to everybody,
We want integrate in a router/firewall (Debian Based, 2.6 Kernel), an HTB
shaper.
The goal is to divide the traffic for classes of workstations, at example in
three classes,
let say A, B and C.
Example:
A 70 Mb/s
B 20 Mb/s
C 10 Mb/s
If B don''t make traffic, 7/8 of 20Mb/s must be assigned to A and all the
rest at B
We have used CBQ and HTB, with poor succes.

For leaf classes is best PFIFO or SFQ?
Hi to all,
i''m following this guide (http://www.opalsoft.net/qos/DS-28.htm), is very
detailed, but i''m a bit confused about queuing disciplinse of leaf classes.
In this guide the author uses PFIFO (see the scheme that i attached at
message) in this way:
# tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:21 handle 210: pfifo lmit 10
# tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:22 handle 220: pfifo lmit 10

classification of incoming traffic with tc
Hi all,
Another requirement we have is that traffic entering the DS domain be
classified then subsequently assigned a (different?) DSCP based upon its
classification.
For illustrative purposes only let''s say (for traffic entering the DS domain
on dev eth0):
- WWW traffic would be marked BE
- traffic destined for 10.10.10.10 would be marked AF11
- VoIP traffic from 20.20.20.20 would

Quality of Service with VLAN using Traffic Control (tc)
We are using VLAN tagging to put several networks on one machine.
To ensure quality of service on one of the VLANs, we would like to
prioritize (outgoing/egress traffic) one VLAN interface over the other
(or others), but without capping bandwidth on any of the interfaces.
We want to do this while being careful to minimize increases in
latency on the prioritized interface.
Since these are two or

TC Filter Flows & ESFQ - Traffic Shaping
Hi,
We currently have ESFQ running on an old Fedora machine and i'm trying
to build a new router with something similar using CentOS 5.5
The problem is that it seems by default the CentOS is not compiled with
TC ESFQ or TC filter hash flows
I get the following error: Unknown filter "flow", hence option "hash" is
unparsable
How can i add support for the hash flow

Traffic Shaping with tc qdisc
Hi, I''m interesting in CBQs.... :) (nice)
Here at my ISP i''ve three Remote Access servers (2 TC ''Total
Control'' enterprise Manager from USRobotics and one PortMaster).
The first TC is with one range of IP 200.210.18.0/0 and
200.210.66.0/8
I knew the comand:
tc filter add dev eth2 parent 10:0 protocol ip prio 100 u32

Testing if tc works as configured and shaping rtp traffic
Hi,
I have implemented qos at my gateway, mostly for speeding up dns and
[video, voice] chat traffic and to slow down p2p traffic. It seems every
thing is working properly, as by browsing speed has been improved. But I
want to test it by sending various traffic and to see through which
qdisc the traffic flows, so that i can be certain that it is working
the way I want it to work.

OpenVPN traffic will not be routed into network / as DefaultGW traffic ... with 1 NIC
Hello!
I''ve the following set-up
RemoteClient1 (Win Vista), RemoteClient2 (Win XP) do both connect to

The server itself (Ubuntu gutsy, OpenVPN: 2.0.9-8, shorewall:3.4.4-1)

How to dedicate a NIC for VM traffic without assigning it an IP
I am testing out a new server with RHEL6 running KVM. We have a few
NICs on the server, one of which we would like to dedicate to network
traffic to/from the virtual guests. Is it possible to do this without
assigning an IP address to the NIC? We're currently doing something
like this with Vmware Server, HP's HPVM for HP-UX/IA, and IBM's
PowerVM for AIX.

Difference between snmp traffic rate, and rate from tc
Hello,
I use rrdtool to graph the traffic in the different classes on an
interface, eth1. Basically, I use the output from
tc -s qdisc ls dev eth1
my tc script (which is only for testing the graphing) looks like this:
/sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 20 r2q 1
/sbin/tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 200kbit burst 15k
/sbin/tc class add dev eth1 parent

Question: traffic shaping (tc-htb)
Hello *!
My trafficshaping (tc-htb) drops packets very early, at least i suspect
this. It drops about 30% fo the packets. The traffic-generating appication
is running locally on the shaping host. I think i can lower this rate by
increasing the packet-buffer, because the locally application will slow down
with increasing buffer (tcp/ip). But i canĀ“t find any options for that, i
cycled the manual
