How to explde HTB.INIT tc commands?
Hi to all,
i''m using htb.init for configuring my shaper.
Now i want to know if it possible to show how htb.init make and use TC,
anyone has tried it?
Many thanks.

For leaf classes is best PFIFO or SFQ?
Hi to all,
i''m following this guide (http://www.opalsoft.net/qos/DS-28.htm), is very
detailed, but i''m a bit confused about queuing disciplinse of leaf classes.
In this guide the author uses PFIFO (see the scheme that i attached at
message) in this way:
# tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:21 handle 210: pfifo lmit 10
# tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:22 handle 220: pfifo lmit 10

TC on virtual NIC, and how to manage the incoming traffic
Hello list,
i thank you for the precious info you gave me, they were really useful in my
work.
I need to work with TC on a virtual interface. Is it possible ? How ? There
is any doc on this topic ? And foremost, is my idea of working with TC on a
virtual interface viable ?
I am wondering if to control the traffic which comes in on a specific
inferface is better to use TC''s filter or

Andreas,
Since I understand your ASCII art and comments, I would very much
appreciate it if you would draw what you see and criticize the

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello,
after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new
post.
I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB
setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics
data...
BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour:
I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link
capacity.

HTB: far unequal behaivor at a slight conf rate change
Hi all!
I''m working in a " _really_ end user simple", yet powerfull, flexible,
scalable, GPL htb/htb-init front end, but now, in the "test fase" im facing
an utlimate problem...
Absoult minimalistic scenario: #Use a FIXEDFONT to read this

tc counters "problem"
Hi, I''m using tc and HTB to shape my outgoing ADSL traffic. I was trying to
make some graphs on the classes by meassuring the "sent bytes" of each class
using rrdtool to store the data (as kbps after conversion). I expected that
meassuring the root class I would get values similar that the ones I get
measuring the interface counters but they differ by a large amount.

2.6.14 - HTB/SFQ QoS broken?
Hello,
First of all, I already contacted Martin Devera, the developer of HTB, and
he told me to search for help on this mailinglist, thus I am describing
my problems here now...
I am kind of seriously annoyed by QoS as I have been trying for over 3 years
to get it working properly - first I did not understand how it works, then
it seemed not to work, then it was working perfectly for half a

htb2 -> htb3 problems
Hello!
I need to switch from htb2 to htb3, because of speed issues (for me,
htb2 is unable to handle more then 100mbit duplex with ~550 classes),
kernel profiling shows htb_dequeue_prio at 1st place with 3x isolation.
So, I''ve moved from 2.4.19 to 2.4.25 kernel (hi-pac for classification/marking
and htb3 for queueing), and traffic rate drop from 100 to 20mbit.
What can be wrong? The

Shaping incoming traffic on the other interface
Hi,
I have a typical configuration for my firewall/gateway box: single network card, with a pppoe
connection to the DSL modem.
I''m already successfully shaping the uplink (how come that the wondershaper.htb doesn''t use the ceil
parameter? It should implement bandwidth borrowing!) but i found the ingress policy a little bit rough.
I''d like to keep the traffic categories

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi,
I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some
problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link,
therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but
the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs.
This is what stats show:
> class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

Is this possible?
I am trying to do ingress flow control with htb + imq,
and as could be expected it isn''t working well.
It works a lot better when I keep the htb ceiling well
below what the link can actually carry - I guess because
htb gets to throttle the TCP fast start before it causes
packets to be dropped. The only problem is wasting all
that bandwidth hurts.
It occurred to me that the bandwidth

HTB traffic shaping odd effects
Hi,
I''m trying to perform some (what I consider) basic traffic shaping on
our network utilising HTB. I have mostly reused the example on the
lartc.org site:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 10
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100mbit burst 24k
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50mbit ceil
80mbit burst 19k
tc class add dev eth0

leaky bucket on bursty multicast
Hi all,
I have an average 2mbit multicast stream that once in a while bursts
high (up to 20mbit/s) in short periods (about 200ms). Could anyone
please help me with directions using tc for configuing leaky bucket
shaping to this stream? I have a 5mbit/s ceiling.
My system is running gentoo linux 2.6.14, and I have compiled in all
QoS modules.
Thanks.

why isn''t 1:1 getting the traffic? [filter question]
With the below script, whenever I ping 10.0.16.10 (which matches the
only filter I have), traffic still get''s sent to the default 1:2 class
instead of 1:1 and I don''t know why... Any hints?

Thats exactly what I want from HTB to do..to prio the borrowed bandwidth.

I just tried to change {,c}burst to 1600, or leaving them by default but
no visible result.
