classifying packets and ports
Hi, I''ve been working for a big corporate company as junior system engineer and getting nicely to understand HTB/iproute2/iptables etc, The ordinary users(about 500 users), can pop / smtp / skype out on the network, but I can''t ssh out, cause they blocked the ports. Thought of being clever, I let my home linux listen on port 443 or 110 for ssh connection, but it wont connect, I

ADSL channel boding or Load balancing
Hi There, We currently using iproute2 for load balancing. However we need more upload speed as we load balance over 3 dsl lines. I''ve been looking for a way to combine the upload speed to more faster. Found a site called www.upstreaminter.net where these guys bond the adsl channels to improve uploads, Since downloading is problem as its need to know the ip address of the downloader they

gam plots and seWithMean
hello I'm learning mgcv and would like to obtain numerical output corresponding to plot.gam. I can do so when seWithMean=FALSE (the default) but only approximately when seWithMean=TRUE. Can anyone show how to obtain the exact values? Alternatively, can you clarify the explanation in the manual "Note that, if seWithMean=TRUE, the confidence bands include the uncertainty about the

pppoe question
Hi THere, sorry if this is a stupid question or does not belong to this forum. I''ve set my DEFROUTE=no in my ifcfg-ppp0 and when I bring the ppp0 up, it deletes my old default load balance routes which I do not want, as I just want the interface to be up, but not touching my default routes any advice Thanks SEW

[RFC] [PATCH] Mode=Switch: add per-VLAN forwarding database
Hi, I'm inter-connecting AccessPoints using a tinc mesh and have bridge-nodes to bridge this vpn into some existing backbone. The AccessPoints bridge their users into 802.1q VLANs (per WiFi-Client, there can be multiple VLANs active on each AP) in the tinc mesh, and the bridge nodes bridge some vlans into the backbone. Now there is a router in the backbone that uses the same MAC on all VLANs,

As Samba supports ACL setting on files/directories we don't restrict what happens to them after creation. For creation you can set "create mask" and

OT: VoIP over bonded link
I have to provision several dozen * users to a seperate building on our campus in the same subnet. Ordinarily, I'd just run a gigabit cat6 cable to another switch if it doesn't violate the 100 metre rule, but this building is several hundred metres away from my backbone. My only option for cabling to the remote building is copper. My plan is to provision them with a Linux bridge with 4

Greenhouse-Geisser correction
Hi all, I was wondering whether there are any packages that provide for the Greenhouse-Geisser correction, an adjustment used in univariate repeated measures when the sphericity assumption is violated (both numerator and denominator degrees of freedom are multiplied by GG-epsilon, and the significance of the F ratio is evaluated with the new degrees of freedom)? I have seen a few emails with

How to fight with encrypted p2p
Hi I believe that whole question is in topic. Is there any way to recognize ( and then shape ) p2p traffic which is encrypted? Modern p2p clients have this ability moreover some of them have this enabled by default. Now I''m using ipp2p for iptables but as I know this doesn''t recognize encrypted traffic. Thanks in advance.
