Multiple user_id columns
I have a table called ''users''. I have a second table called ''comments''. The comments table is in need of _two_ columns that both reference different user ids within the ''users'' table (one column for the user id that originated the post, another column for the user id for which the message is intended for. Obviously I can''t create

Plugins and Engines
I''m trying to work out how to use the functionality from a plugin in an engine. It sounds weird, but it''s actually not so strange. I assume I can''t just add a vendor directory to an Engine, so some strategy for getting the plugin in the lib folder is probably necessary (and then requiring the plugin, perhaps?). -- Yehuda Katz -- Posted via

accessing uploaded file on filesystem question.
Hi, I''m able to upload files onto my webserver filesystem but I had a question regarding how I''d go about accessing them using the <img src="..." > tag. If my files, i.e pictures, are being uploaded to public/images/<dir>/filename.jpg, then should I store the entire path, or just the picture name in my database table? I would imagine storing just the

Rails and SCM Best Practices
Hi all-- I''m starting a new Rails project and I''m preparing to import it into my local Subversion repository. In the past, I''ve just imported the entire set of files generated by ''rails'', but I''m starting to wonder if that is the best way to approach things. For instance, it makes sense to add the log/ directory, but probably not the

LLVM Backend for a platform with no (normal) stack
Thanks, no malloc or free equivalents either (no heap). So, there are no others (to your knowledge) who have built an LLVM backend for a platform with no “normal” stack? I found a presentation about some FPGA work (using LLVM) but it doesn’t seem to apply to my platform. Perhaps someone else on the mailing list will have come across this rarity? Thank you again for your time and

I''ve installed and configured my app according to the instructions of the README file. LLVM Backend for a platform with no (normal) stack

Variable names rule
Hi Tim, Sorry, I'm not sure I follow. Are you maybe thinking that if the identifiers were tagged to specify scope, people would still be trying to use acronyms or single letters? So that, what in future code might be F, would instead be _f and that would be worse than f_ or s_f? I was thinking instead F would be (for new or modified code) _function or _fnctn or _func (as an object of type

If we're talking about member variables, just put an m in front of it, problem solved. You already have one for s_, and I didn't see you mention it but I assume you'd want g_ for globals, so m_ makes perfect sense for member variables and there's no question about UB at that point. How can I do these simulations with R code
1) The Pareto P(alfa) distribution is defined by its density f(x|alfa) =alfa*X^(-alfa-1) over (1 to infinity). Show that it can be generated as the -1/alfa power of a uniforme variate. Plot the histogram and the density. 2) The Poisson distribution P(lambda) is connected to the exponential distribution through the Poisson process in that it can be simulated by generating exponential random

MLE Function
I am just trying to teach myself how to use the mle function in R because it is much better than what is provided in MATLAB. I am following tutorial material from the internet, however, it gives the following errors, does anybody know what is happening to cause such errors, or does anybody know any better tutorial material on this particular subject. >

LLVM Backend for a platform with no (normal) stack
Yes, thank you, specifically and all. On this platform, we call what I will use a "frame stack" (it's actually not a stack, but that's really not relevant). Special thanks to Mr. Mendell--I promise to make good use of the contents of lib/Transforms/Utils/PromoteMemoryToRegister.cpp. To All, I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my original posting. In hindsight, it was clearly

If _<lowerCaseLetter> violates a standard, please say which one. It does not violate the C++11 standard: •Reserved in any scope, including for use as implementation macros: •identifiers beginning with an underscore followed immediately by an uppercase letter •identifiers containing adjacent underscores (or "double underscore") •Reserved in the global namespace: •identifiers

MLE for noncentral t distribution
I have a data with 236 observations. After plotting the histogram, I found that it looks like non-central t distribution. I would like to get MLE for mu and df. I found an example to find MLE for gamma distribution from "fitting distributions with R": library(stats4) ## loading package stats4 ll<-function(lambda,alfa) {n<-200 x<-x.gam

greek letters do not work in expression
Dear all, I appreciate suggestions for following problem. I wrote to RStudio: plot(c(1,20),c(1,20), xlab = expression(paste(alfa))) or the same happen when I wrote: plot(c(1,20),c(1,20), xlab = expression(alfa)) what happen is, that description under x label is exactly "alpha", not greek letter alfa (?). Please where should I search problem, or what information to sent to list for

call Fortran from R
Dear R users, I have to call fortran program from within R (R 2.8.1 on ubuntu 8.10 machine). Suppose I have a fortran code like this (this is only a toy model, my working model is far more complex, but input/output is similar) DOUBLE PRECISION FUNCTION model(times, alfa, beta) DOUBLE PRECISION alfa, beta, times model=beta*sin(times)+alfa*cos(times) END FUNCTION which

Downloading zip files
I have not had a great amount of success installing/updating packages from the "Packages" menu of Rgui under Windows XL. (Except for installing from loacal zip files.) But I am not asking for help in using these facilities because I prefer to keep a folder of package zip files. On the other hand I do find it tedious having to right-click "Save link as" on every individual
