find()ing rows w/ NULL columns?
Agile Web Development with Rails doesn''t seem to have NULL in the index [or my eyes have failed me again], and web searching turns up lots of SQL statements containing NOT NULL. I have a table of loans, and I want to record when something was loaned and returned. The loan date can''t be null, or there''d be no entry in the table. The return date must be something

Error messages: relative paths seem weakly handled?
I create my rails app, with modifications to the default from a script. Having had to upgrade rails once, and knowing that this is likely to happen again because of the rapid updating of rails, it seems the most sensible way to do it. As a result, I often do /bin/rm -rf csestore and then run my script from another window to repopulate it. So naturally, to save having to cd into csestore, and

button_to_function with image?
Hi: does button_to_function allow the use of an image? I tried it in place of the text with "image_tag" and it doesn''t work. Maybe some form of button_to? Any direction you can give would be great! Problems 4.2 installing on Windows?
I keep an old Windows machine around for making sure that RedCloth Win32 binary gems install. When I try gem update RedCloth, it just installs 4.1.9. Did I do something wrong in the gemspec? Would someone else with a windows machine try it and let me know how it goes? Jason

button_to with image
I''m calling button_to in my page, and it renders a form with a submit button just fine. But what I''d really like is <input type="img" src="myimage.png" .....> instead of <input type="submit...> button_to doesn''t seem able to do this, :type and :src parameters get ignored. Is there a way to do it? -- Tim Slattery

Clearing account lockout
I recently am migrating my PDC from NT4 to Samba 3.025. Apparently due to a mismatch between the capitalization of the Windows account and the Unix account (Administrator vs administrator) I managed to lock the account before catching the discrepenacy. # pdbedit -v administrator Unix username: Administrator NT username: Administrator Account Flags: [ULX Bad password count

Native erb lacks -%>, where is Rails'' erb?
Native ERB in ruby, and eruby, seem to lack the -%> feature for suppressing trailing newlines. Thus erb -n script gives errors. Where is Rails ERB so I can invoke it directly? Thank you Hugh

:disable_with for button_to ???
With form_tag submit buttons I use the " :disable_with => ''button label while processing'' " option so that visitors with slow connections aren''t able to submit forms twice. How do I do the same thing with button_to? I''ve got several pages where there are multiple forms on the page being updated with Ajax so I can''t wrap the whole

button_to with image?
I''m trying to use button_to and have it use an image in place of the submit button. I had figured it would work the same as link_to like so: button_to(image_tag("editicon", :size => "16x16", :border => 0), :action => ''edit'', :id => person.id) but this instead displays the image code as the button name. Surely there is a simple way to

Quick Submit Button Question...
Hello, Can I pass a variable from a submit button only? I have a form that the user fills out and I need two different submit buttons - one for ''sync'' and one for ''full push''. I was thinking I could add some sort of param to the button, but it''s not working... is there a way to do this? I have this: <%= submit_tag ''push to

[PATCH] helper to create fb css stylized table
I attached a rails helper implementation of the fb_table described here: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Facebook_Styles I included testing and comments. I hope you find it useful. Curiously, it''s really a small extension of FBML. Richard -------------- next part -------------- Index: test/rails_integration_test.rb

scaffold uses link_to for destroy
Hi, I wonder why scaffolding uses a link_to tag for the destroy links. Seems like these should be POST requests with button_to. The Rails book dedicates pages 335-337 to this very issue. Peter

RESTful PUT and button_to
I''m working on a RESTful app, and I''ve hit a snag. Here''s a simplified example of the problem. (Excuse me if this example code isn''t strictly correct; I''m typing from memory.) Suppose I have a table which models a simple counter. It has a single column, "count": class CreateCounters < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up

Is there such a thing as button_to_remote?
I''ve changed my destructive link_to statements in favor of button_to. But what if I want to make an .rjs call with that button? Seems like we need something equivalent to link_to_remote, so that the button can make an ajax request instead submitting the form. Or am I missing the point entirely? form_tag and multiple buttons inside problem
Hi, I have a bit of a problem with a form in rails. Well, the problem really is me not fully understanding the mechanism of the form_tag, so here''s what i try to do: The idea is to present a some edit fields for some @product attributes and then present a table showing the @product.pieces (pieces for every @product) and to include a "Edit Piece" and "Delete Piece"
