TC Hashing Filters
Hey all, I had asked a question a little while ago about CPU usage being outrageous while using tc and a cbq qdisc. Ed was very kind and offered a few suggestions. One of these was to look at hashing. So after pounding away at it for about a week, I have a general understanding of how it works and have tried to implement it. Unfortunately, and quite obviously since I''m posting here, it

Marking packets by mac addr using tc filter u32 match?
Hi Is there a way of marking packets by mac address instead of ip or ports using a "tc filter u32 match"? I read somewhere that I could use the offset -8 and -14 to grab the mac addresses but if I use anything lower than -8, for example -9, I get an error. I''m modifying the wondershaper script to cap the download speed by mac address. Any sugestions?

IPTables script
Hi All, I''ve been playing with QOS for a short while now and have worked out how to do what I want using HTB. Great queuing discipline btw. My problem is the tc filters I want to setup aren''t working because iptables is getting to the packets first and mangling the src address. The iptables script I am using is MonMotha''s Firewall 2.3.8 and it includes lots of nice

ingress can be used to control the incoming packet, such as: tc qdisc add dev eth0 handle ffff: ingress tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 5 u32 match ip src 172.16.1.11 police rate 10kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 5 u32 match ip src 172.16.1.22 police rate 10kbit burst 10k drop flowid :2 first ,I do not sure these method can

tc + zebra/quagga
I have some problem with traffic shaping on debian testing. I actually posted a full config on the list a while ago but didn''t get any answers. The problem is that traffic doesn''t get into the user classes (~150) when I associate a class with a qdisc. I tried sfq, fifo but none works. If I dont''t associate a qdisc with a class classification occurs well.

need help with tc filters
Hi, I am attempting to set up some simple outbound shaping following the LARTC HOWTO. The HTB qdisc seems to work as the documentation says, but my filters don''t seem to be working. All of the packets go to the default queue regardless of what filters I set, it seems. (according to tc -s qdisc show) I am trying to get this working on my openwrt box (whiterussian rc6), but when

tc filter + bridging + htb -- works only if ip_forward = 0
I thought that the below email would be of interest to LARTC readers. I wasted quite a bit of time tracking down this "feature" (bug?). Any comments that shed light on this would be appreciated. In short, "tc filter" + htb + bridging works only with ip_forward off. Andrew Athan ----------------------------------------------------------------------- All: It seems that

HTB classifying
I am trying to shape a client (somewhat advanced). This is my target: Client is 192.168.2.224. I would like to allow him to download with 500000 bits/sec in general. But, for a specific port(say 22), i would like him to download with 300000 bit/sec only. The problem is that my configuration (maybe wrong) allows him to download with 800000 bit/sec. (500000 generally + 300000 on port 22) I thought

Cannot get htb & prio working together.
Hi, I''ve failed miserably in my endeavours so far and I''m at the point where help would be much appreciated. I want to have 3 bandwidth limited classes on my Internet interface. In each of those classes I want 3 prioritization bands, and then use "tc filters" to place the traffic into the correct class and priority. The problem is that the traffic

HTB does not respect the prio parameter
Hi all, I''m experimenting with HTB and the prio parameter and it does not give me results I expect. I''ve created 4 HTB classes: 1:10 TCP ACKs (prio 0) 1:20 TCP traffic on dst port 10001 (prio 1) 1:30 TCP traffic on dst port 10000 (prio 2) 1:40 Default (prio 3) ceil and rate parameters are the same for all 4 classes (rate is

Multiple classes
I''m trying to implement something similar the the diagram in section 9.5.2.1 in the LARTC HOWTO, but must have missed something somewhere :( I''m trying to hack up wondershaper, as it looked like a good place to start.. Here''s where I currently at, but I''ve tried alot of different things, all failing, some worse than others. The end result is to throttle back 126

PRIO inside HTB - trouble attaching filters correctly?
Hello everyone! I''m simply trying to put a PRIO inside an HTB (used to throttle). I''ve got interactive traffic on the network that I want to give priority (VoIP + Citrix + Video). I''ve used the filters in a CBQ script fine, but am having trouble adjusting them to this setup such that they properly assign the traffic. tc qdisc del root dev $e tc qdisc add dev $e

Simple shaping question
I have linux box (does nat and firewall for small network) connected to dsl. I want to set priorities for protocols (that nothing could disturb web browsing). This is my rules (eth0 connected to internet): /sbin/tc qdisc del dev eth0 root /sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1 htb default 30 r2q 100 /sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:2 htb rate 900Kbit burst 15k /sbin/tc class

Re: 2.4.20 htb3 oops
Hi everyone, I am having problems with "oopses" since I introduced HTB on my company''s PC-based routers. It seems that only routers with high network load are affected. The average network load on the two most problematic routers are 10Mbps in/out and 2.5Mbps in/out. The other machines with less than 1Mbps average traffic seems unaffected. We have been getting oopses on

Bandwith thinking error
Hi, I found that I had some thinking error with the wshaper script. I assigned the bandwith of my DSL connection to it, but the machine where it runs is normally connected to the LAN with 100Mbit behind a separate Hardware-Router.Obviously, the complete connection of the machine was slowed down to 384k because I told it so.I guess, since wshaper takes only one card as argument, I can''t

u32 and iptables do not work together
Hello all, I am trying to make a filter into my QoS rules and I founded that when I try to use filters u32 and with fwmark they do not work together. This is the filter I use, just and example, for u32: $TC filter add dev $DL parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 1 u32 match ip sport 22 0xffff flowid 1:10 This is working fine. Now if I try to mark a package that I want it to go to the same

Looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic
I am looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic over outgoing traffic for my machine. I have a 100mbit line, ftp up, backup data comming in, but whenever mirrors starts grabbing it they use all the traffic and the backup data comming in (the important data) drops to like 300kb/sec. I was thinking some script doing sleep 60 [if downstream > 1mb/sec, limit
