Future of QoS in Linux
Hi
I''m on my last year and I''m writing my final project about QoS
support in Linux 2.4 kernels and, in general, about QoS in Linux OS.
My professor asked me about future of QoS in Linux. And I asking you :)
What are the difference between QoS subsystem in 2.4 and 2.6 kernels?
What are the future plans for evolution of QoS support in Linux.

QoS in Linux
Hello All, I am interested in QoS provided by Linux, when I looked into IP
header I came accross ToS field, also while going more into detail about
QoS I found that the QoS based on ToS is serviced thru DiffServ which in
turn gives more priority to packets with higher value is ToS field, but I
am not able to understand when we finally call dev->hard_start_xmit
routine of underlying device

Per-process QoS on Linux?
Hello,
I''ve tried searching for this but I don''t seem to be able to find a way to
search past archives in this list.
Is there a way to get a per-process qos functionality in linux? At this very
moment, I''m using with success a kind of ''workaround'' in my server, which
involves creating multiple virtual ethernet interfaces with different IPs
and binding

Considering starting business to support Linux QOS
Hi all,
I find the whole QOS area quite fascinating and I''m considering starting
a small business to try and push QOS solutions in general to small and
medium sized businesses. I would of course be happy to push Packeteer
and Cisco kit to those who want it, but to be honest the product of
choice from a cost and functionality point of view seems to be linux
I would appreciate any

How to config a linux router for to make QoS support
Dear lartc''s members
I am a new linux user and I was configured a linux
router with cbq.init
I have installed a VoIP gateway with one voice port
(fxs) for a commun telephone and one ethernet port for
the LAN navigation and a ethernet port for wan
interfaz, i.e., the gateway do NAT.
The gateway has a públic IP at the wan interface and a
private IP at the Lan interface.

ANNOUNCE: Linux QoS Library (LQL) 0.5.0
The Linux QoS Library (LQL) provides a GPL licensed, GObject based C API
to manipulate the network queueing disciplines, classes and classifiers
in the Linux kernel. LQL does not use the TC command as a back-end.
Instead, LQL communicates with the Linux kernel via Netlink sockets the
same way TC does.

QoS Linux questions
Hy,
I''ve two question about the QoS on a Linux system.
1) What''s unit it uses for the rate in the differente configuration of the
schedulers, IP rate or Ethernet rate ?
2) Is it possible to attach on a interface, a queues with a strict priority
scheduler and two or mores with a HTB scheduler ?
For example, a queue for the VoIP with a strict priority, 2 queues for Video

FW: QoS extension to Net-SNMP
Hi.
I did send this to `jaazz@post.cz'', but I suspect the list is a more
appropriate/useful place for it. It''s a question about Michal Charvat''s QoS
extension to Net-SNMP.
When I look at the MIB entries for the QoS handles, I get something like
this -
enterprises.qos.qosObjectTable.qosObject.qosHandle.0.0 = Gauge32: 0

Linux QoS to support LLQ and WFQ
I would like to implement an architecture to support LLQ and WFQ with Qos linux elements !
Is possible use CBQ (you can set same parameters to control WRR process) or HTB (how can i controll DRR process) structure ?
My idea is to classify packets by List flows, tos flows or connections flows (as CBWFQ on CISCO )
I saw also for WRR patch (http://www.zz9.dk/wrr), but I don''t understand

Linux Qos : PRIO qdisc works
Hi, all
I am interested in Linux related QoS, especially PRIO queue discipline (qdisc).
I test some experiments about PRIO qdisc.
Host A ------ Router A --- Router B --- Host C
| 1Gbps |
Host B ---------+ +-------- Host D
flow 1 : Host A -> Host C (TCP)
flow 2 : Host B -> Host D (UDP)
priority 1 queue (pfifo, size 1000 packets ) : flow 1
priority 2

QoS success with FC3 native 2.6 ipsec
I just wanted to drop a success notice to the list. We always hear the
failures, and rarely the successes! ;-)
After switching from FC1 and freeS/WAN ipsec to the new native linux 2.6
ipsec (ie: setkey-based) my QoS code suddenly started working properly!
Previously, with FC1 and freeS/WAN, I found it impossible and rather
buggy (kernel panics!) to get QoS to make any difference at all. My

Latency woes, qos the fix?
My latency is kind of high and the voice delay is noticeable.
The Asterisk server is on a dedicated host outside of the network. I
am performing PAT/NAT using a Cisco router.

I''m a newbbie in this kind of things.
I need an example to configure QOS over a WAN for http, telnet and ftp or a web-interface aplication to start working with QOS. (such as webmin with iptables, but for tc).
Thanks in advance

QoS book
Hello all,
Can anyone recommend a good book which thoroughly explains QoS from a
Linux perspective? Something with TC examples & the like. I''ve looked
at the following:

MPLS QoS
Hi,
i''m testing QoS MPLS on IP network. I''m confusing about what are
features that permit Multi Protocol Label Switching to support QoS on a
network. Can you clarify me it? In particular about the integration
between MPLS and DiffServe
Thanks in advance for the help

RE: small kernel distro recommendations for QoS box
Why not try something like Pebble linux from
http://www.nycwireless.net/pebble
It is a stripped down Debian install that is aimed at running a wireless
hotspot but it is just Debian and you can install whatever you want. It
fits on a 64MB flash card but if you install almost anything you will
want a 128MB one. It does come with iptables and iproute2 tools as I
recall.

QOS Script difficulty on bridge
I''m playing with the rather excellent QOS script from Alexander Clouter
at http://digriz.org.uk/jdg-qos-script/
So far I am really impressed with it - a very impressive example of the
power of linux QOS rules (has pretty much everything in it from the
LARTC Howto!) However, the instructions hint that "for QoS to affect
locally generated traffic in a non ethernet bridge setup
