"Remembering" link to redirect to after logging in
Hi, Suppose I have a resource such as http://localhost:3000/topsecret/data that requires the user to login first. What I did was make use of before_filter to check and see if the session variable is set with the logged in user''s id (similar to the example in "Agile Web Development with Rails"). However while the filtering function does work correctly in redirecting the

500 Internal Server error
Sort of new at all this... I installed Ruby on Rails on my Mac according to the instructions on HiveLogic''s blog. I can run the server and even create my database schema automatically. But when I try to open up my results, I end up getting a 500 Internal Server error on my browser. My Unix terminal reads the following: dyld: NSLinkModule() error dyld: Symbol not found:

Problem installing on Mac OSX
I tried the instruction tutorial on http://maczealots.com/tutorials/ruby-on-rails/ and in the middle of trying to install fixrbconfig I got an error: usr/lib/ruby/1.8/powerpc-darwin8.0/ruby.h does not exist. This probably means you haven''t yet installed Xcode from the Tiger DVD. You won''t be able to compile Ruby extensions without it. Please install it then rerun this

What? - 500 unless class Cart included
I have been struggling with a problem for a while, and now have a workaround, but I want to understand if something is borked in my config or if this is a bug. Setup: Mac OS X 10.4.3; Ruby 1.8.2; Rails 0.14.3 Problem: When I create a brand new project, I get an HTTP 500 status. If I add a Cart model, the 500 goes away: $ rails test create create app/controllers [etc]

WxRuby newbie Mac OS 10.4 install questions
Hi. Forgive me if I am asking questions that have already been answered a million times, but there doesn''t seem to be an easy way to search the wxruby-users archives, so... I tried to install wxruby for the Mac by downloading the latest Mac package installer from rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/1985/wxruby-0.6.0-osx-panther.dmg and tried to run some of the wxruby-0.6.0/samples from the

mysql-5.0.41 and mysql native gem
Has anyone else had problems with the mysql native gem when using MySQL 5.0.41. It appears that this version of MySQL has moved some depended library files. I rolled back to MySQL 5.0.37 and all seems to be working now. But, just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this issue. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed

Can''t Install Rails with Ruby Gem Dependencies, OS X
Hello Community: I''m a brand new user of Ruby on Rails, and am having a great deal of trouble compiling from source. I''m using the tutorial at http://hivelogic.com/articles/2005/12/01/ruby_rails_lighttpd_mysql_tiger to complete the install. Readline and Ruby installed just fine, and the Ruby Gems appeared to. But when I tried to sudo gem install Rails --include-dependencies,

Scaffold NoMethodError on Mac
Hello All: I am still somewhat new to Rails but have created a successful app on a Windows box and am venturing out for my first Mac Rails app. Being relatively new to Macs as well, I believe I have a good install of the latest versions (ruby, rails, mysql, webrick) but have hit two snags. First - when I try to scaffold one of the controllers (i.e. localhost:3000/mycontroller/new) just to

new mysql gem
Hi everyone, For those who have/had problems with Webrick not properly closing MySQL connections, there is a new MySQL gem. (Actually the version was released some time ago, just nobody took the time to make a gem) So run "gem update" or just "gem install mysql" to update (not sure if the latter also updates). Special thanks to Tobias Luetke, who forwarded the gem to Chad
