FTP Port Forwarding & SSH2_MSG_CHANNEL_DATA question
Hi, I'm currently working on an FTP utility which contains SSH2/Port Forwarding functionality. I'm having a problem with receiving large amounts of data. When I open my forwarding channel, I give it a Window Size, say about 10K. When I try to download a file through the forwarded FTP channel, the SSH2 server (VShell in this case) is only sending over 10K. Apparently the server will only

Local software flow control
Good day time! Using openssh with a serial attached terminal figures with a problem with flow control when serial terminal has printer connected to it etc. because ssh disables xon/xoff on associated terminal. At present ssh client always disables xon/xoff on associated terminal device, regarding of it's previous state, e.g. ixon and ixoff options were set or not. By searching the google

PBSmapping problems with importGSHHS
Dear List, I am trying to use the PBSmapping package to import and plot the shoreline of Hawaii. I am having problems importing and plotting the specific regions that I would like to plot. Specifically, I can't get it to import the range of x variables that I would like. I think my problem is with a variable called xoff, but I have no idea what it is, what it does, or how I am supposed to

Eliminating 'Unprintable ASCII' characters
Hi all, I have a csv file containing words with *UNPRINTABLE ASCII* characters (described in the following table). Are there any viable method in eliminating these characters? I realise that *EXTENDED ASCII* characters (i.e , ¡, ¢, £, ¤ etc) can be removed or replaced via *"gsub"* or *"gregexpr"* functions. But am not certain with the *UNPRINTABLE ASCII* characters. Your

lockout ip address after bad logon attempts
Greetings! Is there any way to to lockout a certain machine identified by its ip address after a fix number of bad logon attempts? I'm aware of account policy option "bad lockout attempts" but that would block the whole account and not just the machine. Have a sunny day! Ferdinand

iaxmodem / hylafax receive problem
Hi, I'm trying to receive faxes using hylafax / iaxmodem but I just can't get it to work. We're using Sangoma E1 cards and have calls coming in over PSTN. I've tried turning hardware echo cancellation off but it makes no difference. This is what I get in /var/spool/hylafax/log: [root at faxhost log]# cat c000000003 Jan 14 12:44:43.39: [ 3403]: SESSION BEGIN 000000003 18005551212

Multicast and receive filtering in TUN/TAP
Yesterday while fixing xoff stuckiness issue in the TUN/TAP driver I got a chance to look into the multicast filtering code in there. And immediately realized how terribly broken & confusing it is. The patch was originally done by Shaun (CC'ed) and went in without any proper ACK from me, Dave or Jeff. Here is the original ref

New created users can not log in
Hi, I am using dovecot 2.2 for some time. All users on the system can log in using Horde Webmail. But now, after creating a new user on the server with <useradd -m username> this new user is not able to log in. Of course I have set a password for the new user. In the log file I can see: Sep 16 23:04:05 servername auth: gkr-pam: error looking up user information Sep 16 23:04:07

prio bands and ignored priomap when any tc filter is present
Today I''ve noticed a bit strange (?) behaviour when prio qdisc is used. Example (having no filters/qdisc/etc. at the start) : Add simple 9 bands qdisc, set each mapping to lowest priority band: tc qdisc add dev $eth root handle 1: prio bands 9 priomap 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 If I do just that, all is fine - whole traffic ends in 9th band, what can easily be verified by tc -s

I''m running debian woody (stable) with 2.4.24 with htb enabled. The problem is tc does not know about htb: # tc qdisc add dev eth2 root handle 1: htb RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument It seems that

margins with postscript device
I've been having a problem when printing plots to a HP DeskJet 2500C printer. This printer, like most inkjet printers, has a large minimum bottom margin. For most HP inkjet printers, the bottom 1/2" (left 1/2" inch for landscape) of the page can't be printed too. The postscript device in R has a default of 1/4" margins between the paper edge and the plotting area. This
