icecast with ices as source
ok, correct me where I'm wrong:
- the <sources> tag defines max ices processes can feed icecast
- several ices sources are sent to the same icecast process, but on
different ports
- the icecast process is configured with
<relay>
<server>127.0.0.1</server>
.....
</relay>
for each ices instance ? or with mount ?
thanks,

reencoding experience
hello
anyone of you who has used the reencoding option of ices to bring the
stream at a constant bitrate would be kind to share the experience (the
impact on resources and, quoting the README file -
"...mpglib part of lame (what does the decoding) is rather unstable and
will call exit(0) when errors are encountered." - and stability of the
stream).
thanks,

samba pdc & ldap vs mysql
hallo
I have a task to reorganize the network resources of a medium company
(~150 computers, 80% windows) which in the current state is very chaotic
I was thinking of a system where the users are stored in a single place,
from where applications like mail (postfix), squid and even a domain
controller can retrieve information
from your past experience, which does a better job - ldap or users

reencoding experience
another solution would be to reencode mp3 files at the wanted bitrate
first, and then serve them via ices to icecast ;)

I have the following schema

how can I have the whole x kbps be available on a single ppp
interface, if there are none up, and, in reverse, guarantee to all ppp
interfaces up at a given time

Running iptables/netfilter module connlimit with stock CentOS4
Greetings folks,
I've been researching the various iptables modules that are included
with the stock CentOS4 distro; particularly the connlimit module.
Is connlimit included by default?
I thought it is since performing
# iptables -m connlimit --help
returns information on connlimit usage along with the general iptables
help info:

Hi, I''m having problems with this configuration:

Detecting p2p traffic
After varying degrees of success with p2p detection modules, I would like to
write the following rules using iptables to reliably identify p2p traffic:
1. If a host on the network has 5 or more simutaneous tcp connections to ports
above 1024, mark all connections to ports 1024 and above as 60.
2. If a host has received (or sent) UDP packets from 5 different hosts'' ports
above 1024 in a

How to fight with encrypted p2p
Hi
I believe that whole question is in topic.
Is there any way to recognize ( and then shape ) p2p traffic which is encrypted?
Modern p2p clients have this ability moreover some of them have this enabled by default.
Now I''m using ipp2p for iptables but as I know this doesn''t recognize encrypted traffic.
Thanks in advance.
Pozdrawiam

Connlimit in Shorewall?
Hi everyone,
I see that shorewall has "ratelimit" but i''m interested in deny
conexions by number of them, not by number/sec.
Is connlimit feature supported by shorewall? Or maybe someone have an
extraofficial patch for them?

Angel Mieres
