PRIO inside HTB - trouble attaching filters correctly?
Hello everyone! I''m simply trying to put a PRIO inside an HTB (used to throttle). I''ve got interactive traffic on the network that I want to give priority (VoIP + Citrix + Video). I''ve used the filters in a CBQ script fine, but am having trouble adjusting them to this setup such that they properly assign the traffic. tc qdisc del root dev $e tc qdisc add dev $e

CBQ Rate
Hi everyone, This is on a linux box, ingress (eth1) at 100Mb/s and egress (eth0) at 10Mb/s. The purpose is to test CBQ Here is my script ------------------------------------------------------------------- # Root qdisc tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1:0 cbq bandwidth 9Mbit \ avpkt 1000 cell 8 # Classes tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:0 classid 1:1 cbq bandwidth 9Mbit \ rate 5Mbit weight

tc questions
Hi to all of you!!! I am a Computer Science student trying to do the pre-grade thesis. I am trying to develop a free software tool to help administrators to control the traffic. Right now this tool is based on tc and iptables. I am having some problems trying to understand tc and tc examples: - Why in almost every list of tc rules based on htb class, there is a "tc qdisc dev ... root ...

linux bridging and htb.init / cbq.init
Hello, I''am successful using a linux (2.4.20) bridge and the cbq.init_v0.7 script for traffic shaping. But I can only use the queuing discipline tbf (LEAF=tbf). If I try use queuing discipline sfq or none then tc applies the rules but no shaping occurs. Is this problem a normal behavior when using bridging ? I tried to use htb.init (using patched tc binary). It accepts the rules but

Problen in cbq , fw
Hi, In my LAN Iam trying to make following setup: - All the traffic generated by 10.0.2.1 should go to 10.0.2.11, If the destination of this traffic is internet than it should be placed on its interface eth1. Outgoing traffic on eth1 should be shaped. For this I am using fw filters and cbq. _______ 10.0.2.1 -------> 10.0.2.11(eth0 )----| A

PRIO / CBQ / HTB queue drop algorithm
Hello all. I''ve been struggling to QoS VoIP at our site and have a successful implementation at this point. Basically I had to set aside enough bandwidth for VoIP by placing all other traffic behind an HTB (multiple classes and queues behind it). Everything is fine. Here''s the diagram: ------- | eth | ------- | --------

HTB & Bdw Guarantee
Hello, I have problems setting up HTB. This is my setup : NET 1024/256 ADSL || eth1 Linux Firewall eth0 || LAN 10.a.a.a I want to GUARANTEE for an IP (10.x.y.z) a 800kbit bandwidth for HTTP download. But When 10.x.y.z does no HTTP download, other trafic must get the whole bandwidth, of course. The script I use (see below) is quite the same as presented at (the greeeeat page) :

trying to prioritize voip traffick
I am using a server with asterisk and I am trying to prioritize voip traffick -- I am a newbie at this traffic shaping, so please bear with me. I used the script below and what happens is thatall traffic in the bulk class stops after a couple of minutes. Also, should I include the ports for rtp in the filter statements with the ports 5061 and 4569? Note I have a fairly big pipe -- supposed to

cbq ip range?
OK, finally I have made cbq run ! now I would like to know if it is posible to limit a range of IP to a speed. something like this : from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.21 limit to 128K I don''t whant to limit each IP to 128K, what I would like to do is limit all 20 IP to have a max of 128K. Is it posible?

cbq parameters
If I create a cbq qdisc as a leaf of a cbq class, the bandwith rate is the same of the root cbq qdisc or the rate of the cbq class? Does exist the parameter rate on the "tc qdisc add" for cbq command? tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1:0 cbq bandwidth 10mbit avpkt 1000 cell 8 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:0 classid 1:3 cbq bandwidth 10mbit rate 50kbit allot 1514 cell 8

Shaping weirdness
I''ve been following the HOWTO, and reading mailing list discussions about throttling bandwidth, and have had some success, but I just want to tie off some loose ends. Essentially what I am wanting to do is to keep our bandwidth usage below 1megabit, because if we go over we get charged for that traffic. I''ve used some of the examples from the HOWTO to limit our bandwidth, but I

Use l7-filter in/and TCNG.
Hello every one! I''m making a project to a discipline in the university and the project is make a Linux router that grants QoS to Multimedia connections (the prof. say we can use Open Source Soft. :) or reinvent the wheel). I have been googeling and googeling and i found the l7-filter in source forge and the spectacular simple language that is TCNG. Well the problem is how can i

Wrapping prio in tbf
The manual says (about prio): > Because it doesn''t actually shape, the same warning as for SFQ holds: > either use it only if your physical link is really full or wrap it > inside a classful qdisc that does shape. The latter holds for almost all > cable modems and DSL devices. I want to wrap prio inside of tbf. Here''s why: I have a server on a DSL line, which has

priority bands don't reduce interactive latency?
I run a small Linux webserver and NAT router from my cable modem at home. Whenever someone starts an http download, all other traffic from my LAN is starved. Bandwidth is not really an issue, but latency is particularly horrible -- pings that usually come back in 20ms can take up to 600ms while the web server is active! I set up QoS (netfilter+iproute2) on the NAT machine in an attempt to give

I''m trying to write a more sophisticated script, but when I run it, it give me this error: RTNETLINK answers: File exists I have no idea what this error means or how to fix it. Here is a portion of the script (the whole script shapes several
