hello. i have following setup:

HTB & tc
Hi,
I''m trying to make run a simple shaping *through HTB*. I have compiled a
new kernel 2.4.21.
First command from

# tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 12

I tryed both standard tc from Debian stable and

this is my 1st message in the list.

HTB problem
Hello,
I''m having some problems using HTB to prioritize traffic on my linux router.
The main problem is as follows:
I have a 6Mbits channel on the metropolitan network and a 64kbps link
for the sites outside my country.
These 64kbps are dynamically allocated by my ISP so I usually get
something like 128kbps , sometimes 512kbps and even 1 Mbit; it varies
all the time.
Because of this

IMQ htb question
Hello,
I''ve just recently started to use IMQ and I got puzzled after seeing the
imq usage example on the linuximq.net site:
It was something like this:
tc qdisc add dev imq0 handle 1: root htb default 1
tc class add dev imq0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 1mbit
tc qdisc add dev imq0 parent 1:1 handle 10: htb default 5
tc class add dev imq0 parent 10: classid 10:1 htb rate 256kbit

Re: unknown qdisc ''htb'' ???
Hello,
Could you tell me how did you solve your problem?
I have exactly the same problem but with this configuration:
- linux 2.4.20 kernel, HTB option checked
- iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz installed, which is the latest version I found at ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/ip-routing/, except for "try" or "do not use" versions.
I guess I do not need patching iproute2 and

HTB and iptables statistics
Hello.
The problems are:
1. Using HTB I get negative values for tokens and ctokens in tc -s

HTB latency
Hi list,
playing around with HTB showed that it may introduces pretty much latency
for our setup. Docum.org says the following:
"The default qdisc added to a htb class is pfifo_fast qdisc. The size of the
qdisc is the device queue length and this is 100 packets for an ethernet
device. So if you want to have a shorter queue, you have to add a shorter
qdisc to the htb qdisc."

HTB
Hi, I have the following questions:
I only have one htb computer (2 nics) to shape the international traffic
as well as the metropolitan traffic (i have a list of metropolitan ip''s to
use). Can this be achived using iptables with packet marking (on that htb
computer the 2 nics are bridged)?
If it can will there be delays introduced by the shaping operation (the
metropolitan link is a

cascaded HTB urgent question
Hi there,
I have a question with regards to cascading multiple HTB qdiscs. Assume
that I want to build the following hierarchy:
(qdisc htb 1:0) -> (class htb 1:1) -> (qdisc htb 2:0) -> (class htb 2:1)
-> (class htb 2:2)
I want to attache aggregate u32 filters at 1:0 for supernets, then at
2:0 (and 3:0, 4:0, etc), I attach the more specific u32 filters for say
HTTP and

HTB, MPU, and suitable values
It seems Andreas Klauer''s fairnat has experimental support for using HTB''s MPU
and overhead options.
fairnat.config:
# Use MPU for HTB. From the LARTC Howto on MPU:
# "A zero-sized packet does not use zero bandwidth. For ethernet, no packet
# uses less than 64 bytes. The Minimum Packet Unit determines the minimal
# token usage for a packet."

# HTB_MPU=64

htb errors, wrong patch?
I downloaded iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz and I did patched tc with
the htb3.6_tc.diff from htb3.6-020525.tgz and when I try to use a htb script
I get just errors. I did not patch the kernel, since I use kernel 2.4.21 and
I saw on - HTB Homepage that I need to patch it only if I run version 2.4.20
or earlier. Do also need the kernel patch ? Or maybe is something else
wrong?

What is the reccomended minimum rate for leaf htb class for accurate operation?
Hi,
I''m trying to setup QoS in my TSL box. Following to mailing list reccomendations I changed PSCHED_CPU but can''t get accurate shaping with HTB. I have disabled HYSTERESIS also (by setting it to 0).
I have Intel Celeron 1.8Mhz (TSC supported I think).

HTB dropping packets while tokens available?
Hi again,
I just ran into a seriously strange glitch, and was wondering if anybody
had experienced this...
I have an HTB class with an iptables classifier. The iptables
classifier shows packets hitting the rule for this class.
Now, HTB drops these packets (''dropped'' increases), even although the
packets are small, and there are over 10000 tokens available.
Is there any

Difficulties trying to control VOIP traffic with TC - HTB
Hi all:
I hope someone can help me with this "little"
problem...
I''m using a linux script to sub-divide my bandwidth
(64kbit) into: 40kbit for VOIP, and the remaining
24kbit for http. So, the commands I''m using are:
============================================
#!/bin/bash
# This script shapes "downloading" stuff
# Initial qdisc
tc qdisc add dev eth1

imq or ingress+htb?
Todays quick question:
Ive had problems with imq and getting my setup to work as planned. Im
thinking that a better solution for shaping incoming traffic would be to
put a little limit in the outer interface of the router box with ingress,
and the shape traffic on the inner interface with htb. Would that be
better than using imq?

Could someone help me understand htb queuening
Hi anyone
I try to use htb and got some strange situation
My hbt config is root htb with default to 999 class
Then I make 2 classes 999 and 998
And make many many (near 60) leafs attached to 998
root
! !
999 998 ---...---> many leafs
root attached to ethernet dotQ subinterface
999 make rate where high (50Mbit) but according to
tc -s class
