Sharing a DSL between 40 subnets with htb
I have a network with around 40 /24 subnets that shares a common DSL, this cries out for shaping so here I am trying to make it work as my first tc project. I have managed to cargocult some snippets from this list and tried to come up with a config, but there are a few things that I''d really like some input on: 1) Are the NAT''ed addresses available in the PREROUTING table

HTB doesn''t give me the promised rate: cpufreq?
Hi all :) I''ve been using a tc setup for almost two years, but at some point (probably when I switched to kernel 2.6.x, but I''m not sure) it has started making something very weird. For a certain class, the rate is 125000bit and the ceil is 270000bit, but the fastest rate I get is about 75-80000bit, instead of the "promised" 125000, *with no other traffic in

HTB theory?
Hello, I have been searching for HTB theory documentation and found two interesting sources - Devik''s page and docum.org FAQ. In some places they are contradictory which make me think that Devik''s theoretic document (marked "actual") is just too old and does not reflect the latest changes. After reading http://www.docum.org/docum.org/faq/cache/30.html and others, I

Traffic goes not through filters.
Hi, I think i have made an error with my filters but i can''t find it. We have a site to site tunnel and want to separate the traffic in two queues, http and business. I''m now filtering on protocol 8080 prio 2 and ip range prio 1. As i read the manual i''ve seen that the filters are executed by prio means that all goes trough the buisiness queue because all traffic is

Problem with HTB and IPTABLES
Dear All, I’m working with Fedora Core 3, kernel 2.9.1, MPLS-for-Linux-4.193, and having some problems when create a HTB queue. ALL packets goes to the default queue, they don’t care about any mark or ip field I use to enqueue them. : -/ That’s the deal, all packets that incoming the interface eth2 are classified and have theirs TOS field changed following some qos policy at the PREROUTING

I got something like: # tc -s -d class show dev eth0 class htb 1: parent 1: class htb 1: parent 1: class htb 1: parent 1: class htb 1: parent 1: class htb 1: parent 1: class htb 1: parent 1: class htb 1: parent 1: # tc -s qdisc

HTB
Hello, I have problems with htb. The problem is that when I download any file via shaper with htb, the traffic is very dinamic, it jumps, for example: if i have set ceil = 128kbit the results that it jumps from 112kbps to 144kbps or smth like that maybe its not very bad, but when the traffic drops down to 40kbps or less and then after 1 or 2 seconds jumps to 144kbps, its bad :-( and it is often.

limiting doesn''t work
Hi folks, I read the fantastic LARTC How-to and after that i tried to limit one host in my LAN for both down-and upload bandwidth usage. I took section 15.9. and added uplink-limiting as I understood it from the previous chapters. Unfortunately it doesn''t work. I ran the script and went to the specified PC, started a download, and watched the rate. The rate was always about 2000 kbit/s,

Unshapeable traffic
Hello, Could somebody explain following issue ? I set up htb class on outgoing external interface to shape p2p upload traffic. I limited it to 4Mbit/s. I also set up iptables counters chains in FORWARD chain to calculate traffic generated by p2p and others. While tc stats show that p2p shaping class keep defined 4Mbit traffic, iptables counters show me that p2p traffic exceed traffic to 150%

Per user bandwidth limiting ..for small ISP.using Squid
Sir, Kindly excuse me. I am a newbie to LARTC.. I am a small ISP in rural India distributing 1 MB link to 200 people. I have been using rshaper by Alessandro Rubini for shaping. http://freshmeat.net/projects/rshaper/ My kernel is Linux version 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl( Fedora Core 1) Rshaper is very good in controlling incoming bandwidth (from LAN) I use Squid also on this Linux Box.. HTB - not borrowing, not exceeding rate
Hello! I have a quite complicated setup. In my network on each interface there is bandwidth limitation for each user. Booth outgoing (on interface itself) and incoming (attached IMQ) traffic. There is main HTB class which limits bandwidth for whole interface and HTB subclasses for each user. Filtering is done with hashing filters. This setup was working correctly. But now in the network I

[LONG] Weird problem with HTB using htb.init
This is a long message. Please use a monospace font :) I''m trying to shape the traffic between my LAN and the Internet. My link is an ADSL 512/128 line. The network is shaped like this: LAN GATEWAY ROUTER ------------------ ------------- ------------ | 192.168.0.1/16 | <----> | 192.168.0.1 | <----> | 10.0.0.138
